Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been lucky to enjoy a lot of the great things CS has to offer, although most of my experiences have been through my wife's profile, as she introduced me to couchsurfing!

I have known only good times and good people through CS, whether it's been enjoying wine and cheese by the river in Bordeaux, visiting the a huge garden show in Koblenz with our host or being amazed by the generosity of the Canadians we stayed with on a trip to British Columbia in 2012.

The common thread for all of our stays has been exchange. Getting to know the host/guest has always given an extra dimension to our visits to places. One time, we arrived in the middle of the night at a couchsurfer's in Poitiers knowing we had to catch a train at 7am the following day. All 3 of us were shattered but we stayed up chatting for ages, because once the conversation started it kept on running and running! Couchsurfing is remarkable because the people I've encountered through it have been open and trusting, which has encouraged me to be so myself.
