About Me

Hey Couchsurfing-World

I am a Berlin born Mechanical Engineer who left his study time behind in April 2016 and is now enjoying the excitement of working with an internationally operating car manufacturer.
Sometimes a bit of a shame either way, since I really enjoyed the freedom of being able to travel all around the world without too many time constraints.
Aaaanyway more about me: I am crazy about sports: I love to sail (big yachts with friends for vacation at cheap low season prices preferably or fast sport catamarans), dive, play volleyball, fieldhockey, go hiking in the mountains, snowboarding.
I love to travel and get to know new people.
My recent Vietnam trip, during which we got ourselves a motorbike in the south and drove through the whole country, was a perfect example of how I imagine traveling. A bit more remore a bit off route and non too scheduled.
I hope I can build upon that in the future and share some more moments in unknown places with local people of the couchsurfing world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am quite excited to join this network, since I love to travel and go places off the main stream touristic routes.
There probably is no better way to do this, than together with fun locals.
PLUS: People all over the world are just so different and cool in their ways, I would love to build a network of friends all over the world.
Having been busy with work recently I only got to try couchsurfing on my Tenerife trip so far and had a blast down there. Wonderful hosts, very positive and fun experience, which I am looking to build upon.

Interests

Traveling! Getting to know many different people and cultures!
Sports: Yacht-sailing, catamaran-sailing, diving, windsurfing, volleyball, fieldhockey, hiking, snowboarding, racebike cycling.
Motorcycle riding. I am a bit of an automotive geek (comes with the studies), but can usually hold that too myself ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Ben Howard, Cry Monster Cry, William Fitzsimmons, Angus and Julia Stone, Mumford and Sons, Paolo Nutini, Jake Bugg, Brandon Flowers, Hozier, Charlie Winston and many many more
I am not too much of a movie guy to be honest, one I can watch over and over again is Buena Vista Social Club -> I really need to get to Cuba anytime soon :)
Sadly did not get to read much lately: Kahnemanns Thinking Fast and Slow was quite fascinating though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled Vietnam from Ho-Chi-Minh City to Hanoi on a crap motorbike and only almost died once. Did four consecutive sailing vacations in four years with friends in Denmark, Croatia, Greece and the Canaries.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach some sailing in case anyone has a boat with sails nearby. I do have the licenses to sail yachts up to 50feet.
Also, if you ever wondered what the Volkswagen scandal or Hybrid Cars are all about - I am your guy ;) (there is the geek again)
I would love to pick up as much about different cultures and lifestyles as possible.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good time I suppose :)
I am a fun and openminded guy, who usually gets along really well with everyone from the start and is good for foolishness as well as serious talks.
I have come around a bit in this world, so I guess we will find some things to talk about. I am also really curious about other peoples lifes and excited to get to know new people.
