Couchsurfing is a very good opportunity for poor students to travel around the world. And you can make new friends and stay with them in contact. I like it a lot, when you have contact with some local guys, who can show you the city or give recommendations ... i often had couch surfers in my room in Berlin and my experiences have been always positive.
