Overview
About Me
I'm currently travelling with my girlfriend of over a decade, Natalie.
The pair of us always wanted to travel and spoke of it often, but until a fairly life changing week in 2013 possibly never would have...jobs, studies, finances, whatever else always standing in our way.
However, in March 2014 we set off to Australia and have been travelling since.
We're cheerful, friendly, considerate people with (we think) a healthy dose of no-longer-all-that-common common sense.
Throughout our Australian travels we had a great mixture of work and sight-seeing. We spent Jan and Feb 2015 driving up and back down the east coast and had our first couchsurfing experience - we had an absolute blast with the people we met along the way, both through this site and pure chance.
We don't smoke. We talk a lot. We're more likely to be found enjoying a beer or glass of wine somewhere quiet rather than a bar or club, however we don't mind being lured out on occasion. We enjoy food, although I'm a little more picky than Natalie.
We look forward to meeting you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We learned about CS through a friend while in Australia and thought it was such a great concept, and we've since found its a great community which we're honoured to be a part of. While for now we'll only be looking for some great people to stay and share our travels with, we look forward to opening our home to fellow CS'ers when we finally make it back to England to stay.
We both prefer talking and getting to know a small number of people as opposed to crowds and its often the people who live in a place that know about the little known gems of the area...while you can't help hitting some tourist traps its nice to walk the unbeaten path.
Our couchsurfing experience up to now has been overwhelmingly positive, and we hope to add to this as we continue on our journey.
Interests
Paul - Sports, Music, I watch so many movies and keep up to date on future films. Snorkelling. Something with an adrenaline rush.
Natalie - Theatre and the arts, a good book or film, and a eclectic taste in music.
We love socializing with people whether they be new acquaintances or old friends, be it a picnic in a creek bed, a night in a bar or a relaxing night in with a glass of wine and good company.
A walk with a view, a nice relaxing beach...anything that really gives us a taste for what that place is all about.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - From Karnivool and Slipknot to Motown & Les Miserables.
Books - Almost exclusively fantasy - The Wheel of Time, anything by Raymond E. Feist or Brandon Sanderson. Currently reading Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen.
Movies - Too many to name, but among our favourites are The Fountain, Brick, Inception, Interstellar, The Bourne Trilogy, Aliens, The Terminator, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Heat, Star Trek
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Worked for 6 months at one of the most remote resorts in the South Australian outback.
Snorkelled with sea turtles at the Great Barrier Reef.
Canyoning in Wanaka, New Zealand.
Kicked off 2015 on top of Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Overall...travelled - and it's still in progress.
Teach, Learn, Share
Couchsurfing isn't free...as a bare minimum it should cost your your time in sending a decent request and then getting to know the person who just let you in their home.
I haven't started yet, but I fancy learning a new language when I get home, I'm thinking either Mandarin or Arabic.
Natalie is a drama teacher, if you want to know more about body language, movement, or maybe a bit of English Literature she's your girl.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Two excellent, outgoing, grateful, courteous guests. We're tidy and would have no problem pitching in with cooking or chores while we stay.
This is the trip of a lifetime for us. We have, and hope to continue to meet interesting people who we can consider friends when we travel on. Once home and settled, our intention is to open our home to fellow couchsurfers and show them what our hometown has to offer. Hopefully we'll see some of our hosts again on our own couch.
