About Me

Motto: "Be kind whenever possible, it is always possible"...Dalai Lama.
I am rather quiet and not a party guy. Retired from a career as an Ophthalmic Technologist. Love learning about other cultures, and am a history and politics junkie. Lover of plants and animals and all things Nature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to be an Airbnb host when I owned several apartments, and I miss being able to meet people from all over the world. Also, I know how expensive traveling can be and would like to help deserving people whose Wunderlust is held back by lack of finances. And since I plan to do a lot of travelling now that I am retired, perhaps I can make some connections for that purpose along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite Music: stuff from my generation....Beatles, Joni Mitchel, Joan Baez, John Prine. African music.
Movies:The Yearling. Sophie's Choice. Call Me By Your Name,.
Books: Historical books about the 19th and 20th centuries

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2018 visited almost every National Park west of Denver.
In 2016 hiked 95 miles in the Carpathian mountains in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Teach, Learn, Share

Happy to speak in slow English for those not fluent, and I would love to be spoken to in slow Spanish. I would like to learn about rail-biking

What I Can Share with Hosts

My apartment is really small, and quite literally you will have to sleep on a couch, or your own air mattress. But what you lack in spaciousness you gain in location, because my place is on the downtown waterfront and is in walking distance to many restaurants, bars, theatres, art galleries, and gardens. 2 miles (3km) away, going over a very scenic bridge, is beautiful Lido Beach, one of the prettiest (in my opinion) that you will find in Florida..
You will be welcome to use my bike to explore, or, if you need a ride in a car I might be able to help you with that.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Mexico
