About Me

Hey! I'm a German guy, based in a city in the middle of Germany, that loves to travel through unknown countries and is open minded to meet new people.

My English is not as good as the English of a native speaker, but it is good enough to hold a nice conversation, I think.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In my belief it is the best way to learn about a country, a culture or a lifestyle with locals at your side. Couchsurfing makes that happen..
Couchsurfing in not just a opportunity to stay the night, it rather is a great possibility to spend time with the hosts, to learn about a country and its locals in a new amazing way.
I'm not a friend of normal holiday's in hotels, that are strictly planned and far away from the real life of the inhabitants in the respective country.

Interests

I am really interested in traveling, cooking, trying new food, biking, hiking, paddling, spending time with friends and doing something outside in the nature.
The taste buds are one most genius things the evolution gave to the human. I love to eat good foods, especially the Italian cuisine or generally Mediterranean dishes.
I'm also fascinated in gardening and all stuff around plants, therefore I'm the proud owner of two bonsai trees.
Further I'm always available for a nice conversation about politics, history and all current news or affairs.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to every genre of music, but in particular I hear a lot of alternative music, indie-rock and electro-pop, some soul and funk and sometimes electro swing. I'm always open for new music, so just show me yours and I will listen.

Every movie could be a good one, but you can't give a conclusion without seeing the film. I don't believe in ratings and reviews too much and always want to make my own impression. That's why I'm open minded for every genre of movies. Otherwise, of cause, movies that are well directed, that tell a good story and that convey a nice message are the movies I prefer. Some enormous good movies are "Fight Club", "Forrest Gump", "Into The Wild", "Back To The Future", "Amélie", "Saving Private Ryan", "Shutter Island", "Crank", "Snatch.", "District 9", "Zootopia", "Gone Girl", "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" ... ...
By the way I'm a huge fan of all animated films by Hayao Miyazaki.

Let's come to books. I "literally" read every kind of books, sometimes it depends on my mood. Maybe you know Andreas Eschbach, he is one of my favorite authors.
However I have to confess that I read much more less since I got my first smartphone. I know it's sad, but I'm working on that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done too many amazing things in my life. I actually can't mention one or just a bunch of them, because some would feel neglected, but I will give you one or another.

I paddled several times in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with my best friends. We wild camped on the most beautiful spots at the lakes, enjoyed fantastic campfires and had an awesome time. Of course we always have been very respectful and environmentally friendly to the nature and the environment. We leaved our spots always more cleanly than we found it.

I've gone on an absolutely amazing tour through the Sahara with natives at our side, that showed us the way of living in the desert. We ate together with beduins in their homes in an oasis , played with their children, ridden donkeys and ate fresh dates from palm trees.
I had incredible experiences on that tour.

I went to Canada one month and visited the grandparents of a friend of mine. I got to know the enormous expanses and the awesome nature of that beautiful country. I've gone hiking in the Rocky Mountains, saw wild bears from a close distance and visited a wonderful music-festival in Kaslo. I swam in ice cold seas and in hot thermal springs. All in all definitely one of the most amazing trips I've done in my life.

At least I don't want to misappropriate the small things in my life that count very much too. Every
brilliant action with my friends that are everything for me. Doing racing bike tours, cooking together, meeting at a spot outside the town to watch the sunset or just having an evening, playing some board games. These small activities make me unbelievable happy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some german language, if you want. Maybe some cooking, you can learn from me or I can learn from you, depends on your skills.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I mean: I'm not a five-star chef, but I love to cook at any time. It would be a pleasure to cook some nice dishes with you.
I'm also very interested in having good conversations about politics and all the world and his wife.
