Overview
About Me
I'm a quiet person, not much into partying or staying up late most of the time. I love to sing together with others, and to cook and go for leisurely bike rides and bush walks. If you come and visit me, I may or may not have some good food growing in a tiny garden :)
Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender travellers are very welcome here. Homophobia is not welcome here.
Sometimes I want to spend time with people and sometimes I don't. If we open our house up to you then it means I'm feeling sociable and I will make you very welcome!
In general, we're only interested in hosting people who want to meet us and hang out, so we won't host you if we haven't got time to spend with you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the differences between cultures, and the excitement of travel! Cath and I have bought a little place and we're not travelling now, but we love to hear people's stories and share in people's travel adventures who are travelling. And there's no doubt we'll pick up and set off again before many years have passed...
I'm also really keen to connect with the people in my area who have the same love of travel and travellers that I do.

Music, Movies, and Books
There's so much great music. I was brought up on Celtic folk music, but I also love blues, jazz, classical, psy-trance, most of the folk music in the world, some classic rock like Deep Purple, some cool electro like Aphex Twin, etc.
I rarely enjoy a movie... There are some great ones out there, though, but there is so much trash it's hard to find the good ones.
When did I last read a book! I have a few good ones on the go, very very slowly - one about mindfulness in life and love, one about a multi-faceted feminist reimagining of the classic Hero's Journey concept, and one about the radical political history of Newcastle, Australia, where my family has been based for a few generations. I also like Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Carl Sagan. I read Isaac Asimov and Tolkien when I was younger, probably wouldn't go back and do it again now.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I travelled from the UK to Australia without flying - almost! I ended up flying from Dili to Darwin. I didn't want to fly for enviro reasons but also because it seemed a disappointment to go all the way from Australia to the UK and all the way back and not see any of what's in between. There's a whole world there!
Teach, Learn, Share
There are so many things I know a small amount about, but not really anything I can promise to teach you a lot about... I do know quite a lot about music theory :)
And I know a lot of folk songs.
