About Me

I'd say I'm a split wheel. Love to be active in the ocean or up a mountain, but can be equally happy simply doing nothing, lazing in front of a movie. I'm maybe an unusual mix of creative and technically minded. Inquisitive yet complacent. Fairly quiet at first, but also at times happy to speak my mind. According to the majority of photos I see of myself, I suppose I also love to dress up and be the fool - well maybe not when sober

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I send requests, and hope for the best.
When I'm back home hopefully I can return the good karma
UPDATE: I'm currently back in Sydney after 3 years of travel - see the "My Home" tab for more information if you're looking for a host

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before joining cuch surfing, I effectively couch surfed at four different peoples places in a more natural way, the first in Poland (I met him in the middle of nowhere in Mongolia), the second in Estonia (met her in Croatia), the third in Sweden (met them in the mountains in Vietnam), and the most recent in Vienna (met him in Copenhagen). Since joining I've used this to couch surf in Europe and the Carribean, and met people in South and Central America, and it's always been fun.

After returning to Sydney, I've hosted two people. The first one we went away down the coast and to go skydiving, the second time we just chilled around Sydney's bars and beaches. It's been great to give a little bit back after so much generosity from others on my trip.

Interests

Photography is my main passion, though I'm a mechanical engineer. I've quit my job after working full time for almost 5 years and am currently on a year of overland travel through asia and europe. I've just starte posting photos up on a website/blog i created: www.capturedabroad.com
Other than that, back at home I'd make an effort to spend weekends at the beach either for a swim or surf. Naturally nights often out drinking with good friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Sailed with two others on small boat for 18 days straight across the Atlantic from Dakar Senegal to Barbados

- Deep water soloing off Krabi Thailand. Basically rock climbing without ropes, on cliffs above deep water. One of the rawest adventure activity I've ever done.

- Scuba diving in Koh Tao Thailand. OK maybe not awestruck, more just completely relaxed in the most peacefull environment on the planet (completely unexpected as i was thinking it would be frigthening deep under the water due to all of the dangers involved)

Teach, Learn, Share

Ask me!
I've been to almost too many places so chances are I'm a good source of info. Also I like to cook and like to learn dishes from hosts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Let's head to the beach, maybe even drive to Wattamolla, get some sun, go for a scuba dive, check out some bars, or just chill at mine over a BBQ!

Perhaps I'm going through a super early midlife crisis as I recently bought my first ever skateboard (longboard), then a few weeks later I bought another board! Maybe we can ride together at the beach :)
