About Me

I'm Paula and I'm a 18 year old German girl. I've just finished school this year and now I'm doing a half year trip with a friend around the world before starting university in summer of 2018.
During my gap year I do not travel for having a break from studying but for getting in touch with people from other countries and cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to get in touch with local people on my journeys so I can get to know the cultures much better than in hostels or hotels where I am surrounded by foreign people a lot.
I also believe that you learn a lot more about local people when staying with them which means communicating with them and doing some things together like maybe cooking with them typical food etc.
By that I wanna learn how people all around the world think and what their traditions are.

Music, Movies, and Books

I really like listening to music. Most of the time I'm listening to pop music or some older popular songs but for me the most important thing about music is that it has some nice texts so I can sing along.
I also used to read a lot but recently I do not have so much time left unfortunately.
What kind of movies I prefer to watch depends on my mood.. Sometimes I prefer funny movies , sometimes dramatic ones etc... But I really don't like horror movies and it's hard to convince me about action movies.. It should be a really good one then!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When staying in Thailand I went on a 3day jungle-trekking where we stayed with locals in a tiny Thai village. This was such a great experience because life there is so much different from life in big cities. It may not have been the most comfortable bed or the best showers (if you can even call it a shower) that were provided there but the people where just so friendly and kind and even if they didn't speak a lot English they tried to help you in any way they could.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my experience which I have made on my trip so far. I'm also interested in hearing about experience you have made with traveling in different countries so far.
Apart from that I'm also interested in learning how to cook different dishes from different cultures. I can also show you how to prepare some easy German meals but I'm honestly better at baking German cakes or biscuits.
