Wanna meet new people obviously, have a great time and explore different places.
CS is really something great. I love to travel nd what is better than the locals helping you with that?
I've done couchsurfing twice (as a guest) and I was a host for one time in Madrid where I've lived before and honestly, in every case it was such a great experience.

Went for a 3-days trip to Placencia (Spain) and sleeping just under the sky with my bff. The following day - taking a "shower" in a river and eating spaghetti from one pot with one fork with 5 more people :D
