About Me

I have a small recording studio in a performing arts educational establishment in North London. In association with the college there, where I came 20 years ago to open a music technology department, I also started working with young people with learning and physical disabilities. This really changed my life, it taught me so much. I became a personal assistant to a man with cerebral palsy, whilst specialising in music and audio work with electronics, as well as leading groups on residential adventure trips.

I went to live in Vienna for three years and became an English teacher in order to do so. That was great learning a new trade aged 50. Pretty cool, meeting so many interesting people. I'm pretty much a people person. It's part of why I teach.

I'm back again in London now in the studio, it's busy, and I'm producing my own music too again, since the old school sounds are popular now.

I'm gregarious, a good talker, but more importantly, a good listener.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This June I'm meeting a cousin in Hamburg for a few days. He's 96 years old and travelling from California. He was born in Vienna and left when he was 16. He has lots of stories to tell. I've met with him a few times in the last few years, so when he said he's visiting Hamburg but no London, I decided to go and meet him.

I'm curious about St Pauli, I've heard a little and I keep seeing the tee shirts all over the world! I'd like to visit the museum there.

From Hamburg I'll go back to Vienna for a few days, where I have more family and a ton of friends too. It's short visits on both occasions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I got married in 2014. Never done that before! Wow, and still wow!

Teach, Learn, Share

I was a pretty good English teacher for three years at the best school in Vienna. I can really help with conversational English and grammar. It's fun.

I've been making music with computers since 1987 and teaching the same since 1990. Thats been a constant in my life. I was still taking music production work even whilst being an English teacher. Happy to help in that department.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I can share my knowledge as a trained native speaking English teacher. I can teach and problem solve with music technology. I can listen.

Easy to make friends, happy to talk, love food drink and conversation. Born teacher working outside mainstream education. Love to talk about the world, art music food politics, what have you got?
