About Me

I am originally from California but currently live in Washington D.C. I have a bachelors degree from UCLA and a masters degree from Tufts University, have been teaching Advanced Placement History for seven years, have travelled to more than twenty countries, recently became vegan (vegetarian), have been dancing with a professional West African Dance Company for over sixteen years, have been working on my first novel for the past five years and am currently creating a podcast radio show that highlights the history of people from various parts of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing to meet other bright, engaging, intellectually curious, dynamic people from all over the world. Good energy and positive vibrations have no cultural or linguistic barriers. My first time couch surfing in India, Africa and Greece during a six month tour of the eastern hemisphere in 2012 taught me just how beautifully human we are when we meet and engage across cultures. I have made unexpected friends for life through these experiences and hope that I will continue to meet some of the greatest people on earth through future couch surfing endeavors with you! 😊

Interests

I have many interests that range from dance to astronomy, art, philosophy, history, the rise and fall of empires, ancient spiritual practices, ancient architecture, jazz, traveling, cultural exchange, astrology, politics, environmentalism, archeology, creative writing and of course you! 😉

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: my favorite musical genres include jazz, progressive rock, pop, hip hop, rhythm and blues, classical, deep house, and dub step (with vocals)

Movies: my two favorite movies are Sankofa and The Matrix trilogy

Books: my favorite book is Breaking the Chains of Psychological Slavery by Dr. Naim Akbar

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing experiences of my life was cage diving with great white sharks in the Southern Atlantic Ocean off the coast of South Africa. It was not only incredible to see these animals in their natural habitat, but to also be up close and personal with creatures that typically invoke fear.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my knowledge of U.S. and World history. These are my favorite topics outside of religion and spirituality. I can also offer cultural exchange, help with learning the English language (I taught ESL for two years in Seoul, South Korea) and maybe even a dance lesson or two if you’re lucky.

I am also hoping to learn the history and culture of your country through your lived experiences and personal accounts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my life experiences as an American, practice with the English language, my experiences in other countries and overall good spiritual energy and positive vibrations!
