About Me

I'm an open-minded easy-going person who loves discovering other cultures, meeting new people, and understanding others' ways and habits.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that couchsurfing is a way to get an insight into the real life of a country and offers a more profound understanding of its people's values and character than a superficial city sightseeing.

Really, I've already done a lot of couchsurfing already with my friends - both visiting and hosting, but I didn't have a profile of my own. Now it's fixed!

Interests

I adore traveling, reading, taking pictures, learning languages. I'm costantly looking for new ways of development and self-improvement. I love dancing, horse-riding, and going in for sports (both summer and winter versions).

Music, Movies, and Books

In music, words matter to me as much as the music itself, so I'm more into rock and pop, but I also love classical music. Otherwise, any music will do as a background.

As for movies, I like philosophic, psychodelic, house art movies that tend to make you rethink the reality (Shutter Island, La vie d'Adèle, La science des rêves, Die Welle, L'écume des jours). Also, the historical movies, dramas, and comedies.
I love the Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings books and movies.

In literature, I mostly read classical authors like W. Golding, I. Show, S. Maugham, J. Grisham, J. London, F. Dostoyevsky, L. Tolstoy, J. Vernes, J. Steinbeck, brothers Strugatsky, A. Christie, I. Bunin, R. Bradbury, etc.

I also love children's books and I work for a publishing house making reviews and translations of these books from different languages into Russian.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My friends and I made 600 km one way from French Aix-en-Provence to Bordeaux by hitch hiking in one day. We changed 13 cars, met 14 different people of various social profiles, and I can swear it was a most amazing experience for me!

Another one is more related to adventures and hiking experience. My family and I visited many America's national parks, and it often turned out into wandering among the majestic beauty of the mountains at nightfall. The same happened to us this year in the French Alpes. We got lost and then had to make an even longer way to our destination. I love those adventures though, as they give you both a trial and a satisfaction to have overcome the difficulties.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I assume I'm an interesting person to talk to or share my traveling experiences. I now study law in France and can share my impression about living in another country :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some souvenirs from Aix-en-Provence if you wish and good mood :)
