About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To write the human dimensions of the conflagrations that pop up across the world.

ABOUT ME

I am a 34 year old freelance journalist with a reporting tour to Iraq and a recent 18 Month reporting tour to Afghanistan. Born in Paris to a French Father and an Italian American Mother, my french is decent but English is my primary language.

PHILOSOPHY

Do no harm, leave improvement in my wake, enable the good, expose evil.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I really hope to be able to offer Couchsurfers travelling through Kabul advice on staying safe and finding the right accomodations for themselves. Kabul is tricky and some of the people dishonest. having a little bit of guidance can make quite the difference. Profit from my mistakes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fight Club, 310 to Yuma, The Usual Suspects.
Metric, Aimee Mann, The Ramones.
Hemmingway (for offering a more masculine and spare alternative to the shimmer of the roaring 20's), Ayn Rand (I dislike her philosophy but appreciate her ability to weave a stunning narrative, even if it is populated by characters who repel me), LeCarre {with the accent over the e} (for making winners of losers [and those sentences])

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Made the clear and calm decision to directly risk life and limb for other people in the pursuit of finding meaning through duty.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can provide tips for dealing with angry/stoned/corrupt Afghans/Syrians with AKs.
Learn: How to gain the trust of indigenous peoples the world over while travelling through their lands and culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A nice mattress on the floor.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, England, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Netherlands

Countries I’ve Lived In

Afghanistan, France, Turkey, United States
