About Me

Hailing from the beautiful city of Portland, Oregon. A lovely place to call home, but so much world to see!

A couple things about myself:

Studied biology and geology. I get pretty jazzed about most anything in the sciences. I enjoy reading, learning, and making silly hypotheses based upon random observations.

Lover of music. Favorite music era is the 60's and 70's. Favorite live music is the symphony.

Lover of the outdoors. Hiking, backpacking, exploring.. I love the coast, the woods, the mountains, and the desert. There is nothing like finding a bit of peace and solitude to stay grounded in a chaotic world.

I'm pretty laid back. I make an effort to be cognizant of those around me and be thoughtful and respectful. I really enjoy meeting people and having engaging conversation.

I travel slowly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Connection. Knowledge. Exploration.

Interests

Music. Nature. Science. Travel. Hiking. Climbing. Conversation. Philosophy. Frisbee.

Music, Movies, and Books

Paul Simon, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, Natalia Lafourcade, Otis Redding, Ceu, Alt-J, Bob Marley, Beck, Alabama Shakes... the list goes on. But I always revert to Paul Simon and the Beatles. And classical music. Always classical.

Not super into movies, but I do enjoy a good movie on occasion. Any movie in which I can get lost. Mostly I enjoy nature shows, particularly anything with David Attenborough!

Some favorite authors include John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, John Muir, Bill Bryson, Malcolm Gladwell, Neil Stephenson. I enjoy a nice mix of fiction and non-fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived and traveled in a Westfalia van for seven months exploring National Parks and seeking out other natural wonders in the SW States.

Teach, Learn, Share

In teaching, I find that I learn. In learning, I find that I share. In sharing, I find that I teach.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good company and conversation. I enjoy cooking, doing activities, networking, and exploring. Respectful, amiable, and easy going!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Singapore, Thailand
