About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn

ABOUT ME

I was born in Peru, but from 1990-1993 lived in Canada, then came back to the best country! Sports are my passion...Baseball was my passion back in Canada, of course ice hockey too...back in Peru had to give it up for several reasons, in line skates became my new passion and also started playing soccer and tennis until I did snowboarding and surfing for the first time...I don't think I'll ever drop surfing...snowboarding would be great too but surfing...I have it around the corner!
(I still do some In-lines but not like before)

I'm pretty laid back but if thing's are going on I could be hyperactive and impatient(sometimes)
really open mind, definetly a talker, like to seek for new challenges, if they're related to sports even better, always open to experience/live new stuff. I just wanna Learn!

This year has been complete changes for me and seeing life in another way, living life more on the edge. Enjoying each minute of it...or at least trying. Working on a project now with some friends.

(I think theo's reference made me realize something new about myself)
Probably it's good to be carefree but I need to find a balance between carefree and careless though, sometimes being careless deviates me to the wrong path...well you learn anyway! hahaha...and then back on track!

PHILOSOPHY

Live Happy and enjoy life!
stay where its fun to live!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I share private room and pretty much own bathroom, I can take you out surfing, partying, biking, everywhere you want and giving you the best tips for a pleasant trip to Peru.

and of course also spreading the word of CS!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

just did it before even knowing something like this existed!

1) BEFORE COUCHSURFING
I went to south lake tahoe on a work experience program (CCUSA) and made friends who have contacted me before coming to Peru and I gave them or there friends a place to stay.....aussies, americans, chilenians, argentinians, swiss and polish up to now. So I have couchsurfed/hosted people without being part of the webpage.

2) FIRST BABY STEPS (Interesting story)
- June 2nd, 2008: a friend explained a little bit on how CS works.

- June 3rd: I Signed up in CS...I took so long to sign in, hang pics and write a nice profile that I didn't do much research on how it really works but my criteria told me that in order for people to host me I should at least take some time to write about myself so they could have some idea on who they're hosting.
(REALLY IMPORTANT IF U ASK ME TO HOST YOU)

- June 4th I arrived frankfurt...no couch of course but one of the coolest things that ever happened to me took place in frankfurt and thanks to a CS. you wanna hear the story?...well here it goes:

I was in frankfurt square putting my camera on automatic to take a pic with a statue, when suddenly:

- "hey, do you want me to take a pic of you"
me: sure why not?
(Picture shot)

me: Thank's a lot...what's your name?

- Susanne, and she's Cynthia my CS guest from Canada...I'm showing her around.

me: oh that's so cool!...
(then I asked about who was the man of the statue and she explained to me the history, so sad I forgot it)

Susanne: well we're gonna keep on going, do you want to join us?

me: of course, that would be great!

we walked & walked through the streets of frankfurt for like 4hrs & stopped to have lunch & talked a lot, and of course drunk apple wine.

So as I was telling her about my trip and why I had to leave my surfboards in the airport storage and that it was gonna cost me 200 euros for 3 weeks and...:

Susanne: well, since you fly out of frankfurt you can leave your surfboards in my basement and then come back in 3 weeks and pick them up before you leave and also if you need you can stay at my place.

I didn't really check any of her references (still didn't know much how CS worked) but had a good feeling so I went to pick them up from the airport and left them at her place.

3 weeks went by and I was back in frankfurt staying one night at Susanne's, she had stuff to do that day but we still had some lunch and breakfast the next morning.....how great is that?

THANKS MICKYMAUS!

after that I had other cool stories but will save those for later (if you wanna know them of course)...just thought this one was very special for being my first official CS experience and interesting to share.

3) Then I met other great people on the way who hosted me and had a great time with them, new experiences, more stories, more knowledge...

As a Guest through CS:

June 2008
Seignosse at Valou's (Jarraud) 1st official host in her house and it was just amazing!
Porto at Ricardo's (Machado)
Frankfurt at Susanne's (Mickymaus)
Singapore at Theo's (V. Poh)
Kuala Lumpur at Aurelie&Elsa's

July 2008
Singapore - back at Theo's
QLD, Australia - with Judy

July-August 2008
Bali - with Jaz (Haskell)

wanna see all you guys again, had a blast everywhere I've been and met all of you CS's. Thank's for everything...and of course looking forward to meeting new hosts!

4) Finally other new/great people appeared in my life and hopefully this list will keep on going, faster when I move out by myself.

As a Host, officially through CS:

September: The Cappas (Tony and Anna)
November: Linds and showed Alesya and her boyfriend around and took her to the beach
February 2009: Aussie Mark
March: showed Michelle around lima nightlife
April: Hosted Jana & Ramona...2 great crazy latvian girls and met Todd also!
June: hosted Jason and Ly!

I organized a small CS meeting for Lindsay and it came out quite fine and fun.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
"Everyone deserves Music" (Michael Franti & Spearhead)
it's a massage for the ears, each one of us with their style but it's still is...we definelty couldn't live without music!

jack johnson, dispatch, donavon frankenreiter, ben harper, barenaked ladies, blind melon, dave matthews, led zepellin, wyclef Jean, bob marley, alpha blondy, charlie chaplin, gladiators, peter tosh and I could keep on going but you know the style...)

also electronic music: house, electro dance and progressive
some hip hop no favorites though

Movies:
"The Game", "The Mask of Zorro", "Tais toi!" ("Que te calles!) y "The Lord of the Rings", "El hombre de la mascara de hierro", "Shakespear in Love".

also have to mention the only shows I watch on TV as they contribute to the best medicine (laughter)
Top 3: Two & Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Friends......then comes the rest: Will & Grace, According to Jim, Seinfeld, etc.

Forgot NATGEO & Discovery, so interesting!

Books: I'm not a big fan anymore, school made me lose this passion I use to have when I was young, used to like mistery books like "the hardy boys" I remember.
Harry Potter...who hasn't read it?

but definetly should start reading again real books, besides surf & snowboard magz and Reader's Digest!

got any book recommendation?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done: Snowboarding and surfing!
Travel (specially my last trip June 2008 - September 2008), I met so many cool and interesting people that in some way marked my life.
Hike the pastoruri glacier (it's melting now) in Huaraz, reach the top (5500 m over sea level) on the same day I arrived (so didn't even acclimatize) go down with my snowboard in less than a minute and then hike back up to the middle of it go down again and then several times to 1/3 of it to go over a jump... by the end of the day I had the worst migrane ever.
Hike the Huayna Picchu...the best view you can get of Macchu Picchu.
Bungee Jumping from 122 mts.

Seen: hard to say...each place I've visited has it's special attraction...just to throw some out...
- The waves in Indonesia, so perfect...it's paradise!
- Amsterdam: there is more bikes than persons.
- Singapur: probably only country in the world that doesn't sell gum...what the f#*&!

And of course have to mention a couple in Peru:
- Macchu Picchu, one of the new wonders.
- Huascaran with Laguna Llanganuco at the bottom (Huaraz)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: whatever I'm capable of or know about.
