About Me
Hello everybody!
I'm a scientist. I studied chemistry and now I work at Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute. I'm a part of a Phenotyping research group. We work on innovative hardware and software tools for more efficient technologies for agriculture and biotechnology.
My job is very diverse which is why I like it. I get to work on challenges and create tools to help my colleagues and also the whole research. I'm constantly thinking about possible problem solutions, I program software and build hardware. I also work a bit with AI.
In my free time, I like playing board games. I go to a board games club at my university, where we meet twice a week and I met great people there. I enjoy strategic games and also asymmetrical or cooperative games. Sometimes we also play two-player games at home with my girlfriend. Some of my favourite games are Circadians: Chaos Order, Ark Nova, X-Com, 7 Wonders: Duel.
When I feel more like relaxing, I dive into miniature painting. It's probably no surprise that I paint board game figures.
When the weather is nice, I like to go metal detecting. I already found a bunch of cool stuff like old coins, brooches, and beautiful belt buckles. Of course, most of the time you dig up bottle caps and metal wires. :D But still, walking in a field, meadow or forest is relaxing and then when you find something awesome, it's like finding a treasure.
I also enjoy mushroom picking. Kinda for the same reason. And also you can cook something.
I spent a lot of my youth years playing World of Warcraft. If you're familiar with the game, we defeated Burning Legion. Although it's been a few years since I played it, I'm still in touch with some of the players because we became good friends. I even organize an annual convention, where we gather from all around the country, stay in a camp and hang out, talk about our current lives and reminisce. I'm the only one with a 13-year attendance streak. :D
I'm kind of a PREcrastinator. For my peace of mind, I prefer to get things done in advance. I would say I'm easy-going and laid-back. I don't like conflicts and people who never admit when they're wrong. I appreciate honesty and tolerance.
Random fact about me: I don't like tomatoes. :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I traveled quite a bit with my family when I was younger and always enjoyed seeing new places, and getting to know local culture.
And last year my girlfriend told me about this community. She has couch-surfed quite a bit and having heard her stories, this way of traveling intrigued me, so that's why I decided to try it as well and we found a cool host in Oslo last year
And then this summer we did a road trip to Germany, France and Lichtenstein and I got to meet a lot of awesome people again!
So I'm looking forward to more Couchsurfing experience!

Music, Movies, and Books
My all-time favorite movie I've seen many times is Pulp Fiction. But otherwise, I like fantasy movies for the most part. My favorite are Harry Potter movies. I also liked the movie Green Book. I like to relax by watching sitcoms like Red Dwarf, The Big Bang Theory, and Young Sheldon.
As for music, I like Sabaton and old school pieces like "Paint It Black", "Highway To Hell", "Sweet Child Of Mine", bands like Queen, Roxette, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, R.E.M., Dire Straits etc. I also like Hanz Zimmer's music.
But I don't listen to music that much. I prefer to listen to audiobooks.
As for books, I like fantasy as well. I liked Dune.
My favorite author is Patrick Rothfuss. I really loved The Wise Man's Fear and The Name of the Wind. I have a lot of favorite quotes from those books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I ate a piece of a chip from "One chip challenge". :D
It's made with two of the spiciest chili peppers in the world, the Carolina Reaper Pepper and the Scorpion Pepper. :D
(I enjoy chili and spicy food.)
From a career point of view, I have a patent regarding a bio-chemical method.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you something from chemistry, and programming (but only if you are not a pro, I am a self-learner :D).
I like to try new things, so if you do anything interesting, I'd like to try and learn.
I can share my travel stories and my knowledge.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy interesting and meaningful conversations so I can share my time and we can talk, and share stories. I can also help you at home with something.
