Overview
About Me
I am a teacher, mentor and father of 5 children. I come from Prague, the very heart of Europe. I have traveled, studied and worked throughout the continent, and mastered many European languages,.
I liked traveling in the remote parts of the Balcan, but later on my interest turned to Caucasus, Turkey and Iran. I have even started learning Farsi. Later I discovered India. The nature and the people caught my fancy.
I had studied theoretical mathematics and history of science, from where I shifted into alternative education. For the last 27 years, I had been a teacher, mentor and teacher trainer in various settings - waldorf, montessori, sudbury, nature schools and many others. In my Institute of Alternative and Innovative Education, I had helped parent or teacher groups to start new schools and transform existing ones. I have helped principals and their teams to develop a clear vision of their school. And last, but not least, to many children I taught, I helped to love learning and overcome many social, cognitive and personal difficulties.
In the last 12 years, I kept visiting the Indian subcontinent, traveled through many States and saw many wonderful schools, teachers, parents and children. I witnessed the blossoming alternative school landscape driven by both enthusiastic teachers and parents. I delved into the educational philosophies of Vivekanda, Aurobindo, Krishnamurti, Steiner, O’ Neill or Montessori, seeking both their common ground and the unique essence of each of them. I have conducted workshops for children, parents and teachers in North and South India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love travelling, sometimes alone, sometimes with my family or a part of it. I like meeting people from various countries and learn about their language and culture. In India, I want to explore possibilities of doing things together in the field of alternative or innovative education.
