About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet people from other countries and learn about their culture by traveling and hosting.
ABOUT ME
I love to travel, I respect all cultures and want to know all about how we are both different yet the same. I am very fond of animals and do all that I can to prevent cruelty to animals and children. My husband and I took an early retirement last year so we basically have little schedule, other than doctor appointments. We live in a town that has many different ethnic cultures. We really enjoy learning about other countries and their cultural differences. We love to eat and cook non-American food.
PHILOSOPHY
I am very open minded and I believe that everyone is free to live their life as they choose. I am very tolerant of alternative lifestyles and I am not one to judge them. The variety of people on this earth are what make it special during the short time we are here. I get my most satisfaction from making someone else's life better. When I leave someplace, I want to leave it better than I found it. In the past few years, my life has changed drastically. I have learned to 'live one day at a time', and became a very close friend of Lois W.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We've had several requests for a couch, but many didn't work out due to different reasons. We have only been able to host once. I, on the other hand, was hosted by 10 different people in Hungary and Italy. I have a neighbor who has been hosting and surfing for several years, so now we share our experiences together.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was hosted by some wonderful people while traveling to Budapest, Eger, Florence and Rome in October of 2007. At the same time, my husband hosted a CS in our home who was traveling from the Northeast United States. We repeated a trip to Hungary together in 2008, and stayed with some lovely people who we remain in contact with. During my visit to Hungary in 2011, I reconnected with some of them. I am still amazed at how great this system works - why couldn't there have been something like this when I was in my 20s!

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all music except not so much classical or Country and Western. I listen to foreign language lessons on my travel to work each day to try and learn a new language. I like happy movies. I enjoy reading mystery books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing thing I have ever seen is Niagra Falls, Canada. The most amazing thing I have ever done was to travel all alone to Europe in 2007. I had no cell phone, did not know the language, did not know anyone and barely understood the currency. The CS hosts that I stayed with gave me my freedom and self assurance that I could do anything!
Teach, Learn, Share
When I cook, I serve a meal that I create. I look at what I have in the kitchen, then I think about how they could go together to blend flavors. When I serve a meal, there are lots of colors on the plate and lots of nutrition. I teach my friends to experiment with different ingredients to make a delicious meal. I want to explore foods from other countries and see how to use them with what I already know.
