About Me

I am a third-year university student.
We Viets call this city by 2 names: Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon, you can do the same.

I don't play by the rules or judge people. I am a realist & do respect each other's beliefs, religions, backgrounds, ethics, perspectives if only you are kind to others & animals. I live with my family including parents, little brother & uncle. They are super nice but only me & my brother can speak English. My house has 2 & a half floors, our guests will stay on the 2nd floor with their own bed. Your room doesn't have AC so it really depends on your preference of the stay.

We are available to host more during the summer. Now I have classes at university and my family has very busy schedule so if you request to stay in weekdays, prepare to be declined by me because I cannot really spend anytime with you during the day, and it's really inconvenient to provide you good hospitality so I hope you can understand my situation. Otherwise, if it's possible I would love to invite you to have meal with my family or we can absolutely meet up to exchange stories and cultures.

I am a proud Saigon street food expert. I will not take you to rooftop bars or clubs because you can find them in any countries (But we still go have some beers if time permits haha). What makes Saigon so special is the diversity of local food you can find, the unsophisticated of where you taste them and I guarantee to show you destinations for having Vietnamese tasty street food for less than $2, & if you have the guts to try weird shit you will surely have the chance.

My Vietnamese name is Phuong which is one of the hardest names to pronounce for foreigners. I will personally make sure you can when you leave my place lol Please copy this phrase "Toi da doc bai gioi thieu cua ban den day" then paste it to your request before saying hi so I can know you did read till this point.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new friends from another culture. Either it is a good or bad experience, each individual I met has taught me something and I am grateful for all of them. Once you learn, you can improve and grow.

Moreover, it is because every time I read the news about foreigners getting scammed or being in unexpected troubles here in Saigon is really annoying & sad, so I want to provide those who stay with me a memorable & comfortable experience. I hope when I travel - through CS or not - a native would have my back the same way I treated my guests.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music: I don't have a specific favorite genre, songs or artists. When you see I sing & dance to it like no one else is watching, you will know that's my jam.

- Movies: Some of my favorites are Game of Thrones, Prison Break, Empire, The Walking Dead, Glee, Revenge etc.

- I am too lazy books don't deserve me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in a filming project in with 3 students from Barcelona, Spain about the climate change which creates the environmental issues for people (farmers, fishermen, floating market sellers etc.) in Mekong Delta. We went through most of the cities/provinces in the Mekong area to capture as many footages as possible, we also interviewed people from a university student to a farmer to contrast their awarenesses about this issue.

The trip took 10 days to accomplish, I ended up having 3 new amazing friends and a bunch of new experience I have never had. Also, now I have some knowledge (not that much lol) about Mekong Delta so if you have any doubts about the recommendations, don't hesitate to send me a message.

Teach, Learn, Share

My long-term goal is to be able to speak at least 5 languages, and know how to code.

What I Can Share with Hosts

- When I leave your room will look clean & organized exactly as the day I came.
- I am willing to pay you additional fees (electricity/gas/water/wifi etc.) if it is necessary. Because I aware in some countries those utilities are quite pricey.
- I am good at taking photos. I try my best to deliver you some great ones.

Countries I’ve Lived In
