About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I live and work in Brooklyn, NY. I spend much of my free time in good old Bklyn, too, because while Manhattan overshadows us with its tall buildings and shiny glory, Brooklyn's really the place to be. ;)

Interests

I am actually interested in pretty much anything and everything depending on the time of day, the direction of the wind, etc, etc...

I'm into activism, traveling, getting to know people, hanging out with friends, hanging out with people I don't know, reading, painting, drinking coffee, watching GOOD movies, listening to National Public Radio, going out, staying in...

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all types of music, and would love to hear or learn about music where you're from. I like jazz (be-bop like Carlie Parker), rock and indie (Modest Mouse, The White Stripes, Madrugada), folk (Jolie Holland - highly recomended), bluegrass, weird stuff (Tom Waits - tried, true and new every time for over 3 decades), other weird and wonderful stuff like Gogol Bordello - Gypsy Punk, and then, of course, what music list is complete with out ... The Beatles.

I like interesting movies (not usually into Hollywood stuff). Movies to check out: Coffee and Cigarettes, Down By Law (Jim Jarmusch - that might be spelled wrong), Lock Stock and Two Smokin' Barrels (Richy), Barton Fink (Coen Bros.), Hotel Rawanda, The Shining (creepy), Motorcycle Diaries.

I love to read. Some of my favs. include: On The Road by Jack Kerouac, Generation X, almost anything by Steinbeck (East of Eden, Grapes of Wrath), Cloudstreet by Tim Winton, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer - trust me, A History of Love by Nicole Krausse (of the Krausse/Foer Brooklyn prose dream team), The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu.
