About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just Passin Through

ABOUT ME

Such a tough assignment. Let me think about it for a bit...

PHILOSOPHY

Boredom is fatal.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a couch. But fair warning my place is old and has no central A/C, so it is quite hot during these blistering Texas summers. Other than that, I am glad to help out in anyway I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just getting started. A friend recommended CS to me recently.

Interests

I study the sociology of religion, so I am very interested in how various people deal with existential and spiritual questions. Also, I love social theory, especially constructivism.

Music, Movies, and Books

Tom Waits, 16 Horsepower, Cat Power, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, James Brown, Richie Havens, old blues, Daniel Johnston, Never Ending Story, In America, 18 Years of Alcohol, Mule Skinner Blues, Crumb, all kinds of odd documentaries, Supertramp, Nick cave, Gogol Bordello, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the works of Erving Goffman, existentialist writers(anything by Sartre, de Beauvior, Levinas, Heiddeger, Kierkegaard, Levinas, Tillich, Neitzsche, etc...), Blood Meridian, short stories by Flannery O'Conner and Nabakov, the works of Randall Collins, the poetry my friend Hannah recommends to me

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Machu Picchu at sunrise, an Umbandan spirit possession, went to a party attended by the president of Uruguay, two weeks living with a refugee Tibetan Lama in the south of Brazil, probably some other stuff, but I can't think of it right now

Teach, Learn, Share

I really dig this idea. I would be willing to learn almost anything somebody is willing to teach me and I am willing to teach anything I know, which at the moment is mainly sociology.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Jamaica, Paraguay, Peru, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
