About Me

ABOUT ME

June 2016: Hi! I'm 25 and I just came back home after 9 (cold) months in Canada (Brandon, Manitoba) where I was teaching French at Brandon University. I am originally from Rennes (Brittany), a beautiful city of western France.

Interests

I love traveling in general. I've been on the road over the past few years (I've lived in the US, Brazil and Canada) but now I think I'm gonna settle down in France for a while. I'm still gonna travel and visit some places I haven't seen yet, but mostly as a tourist now.

I enjoy being with my friends, chatting while having coffee / tea / beer (I'm always down for a good cold beer!). I'm a friendly person who enjoys laughing and discovering new places and new cultures. I still have a lot to discover and hope to do it as much as I can.

I'm a vegetarian because I care about the animals too much to eat them :) but I still love eating!

As I said above, I was living in the US (in New Hampshire) for one year for my study-abroad experience four years ago and in Canada this year. I now consider the North American continent as my second home, I just feel like home everytime I go there.

Moreover, I love music. Most of the time and as soon as I'm by myself, I'm with my headphones / speakers on listening to whatever I feel like listening to. I think there's not a single day that goes by that I don't listen to music.

Languages is also one of my big things. I could say that's the only thing I'm really good at in my life (haha), even though I'm only fluent in English (and French obviously). I used to study Spanish in school, I can still understand pretty well but have some difficulties speaking it, especially since I learned Portuguese that completely took over my Spanish. And I used to study German for a few years at the university but I forgot a loooot of it. Gonna be happy to try to practice it during my trip to Germany this summer :)

I also love sport, especially volley-ball. I don't practice sport anymore (I became lazy, ugh) but I have played volley-ball for 5 years and I used to love it! I still enjoy watching sports on TV (volley-ball, basket-ball, tennis, swimming... anything but football/soccer actually).

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: I like a lot of genres, from Mumford and Sons to Beyoncé, Florence and the Machine, Nina Simone, Drake, The XX, Bon Iver, The Weeknd, The Fugees, Glen Hansard, Björk, Ed Sheeran or Eminem... I mainly like all kinds of black American music (from the 50's to now), English / Irish music (folk, indie, alternative, etc) and pop music. I also love concerts / festivals: they're so much fun.

MOVIES: Thelma & Louise, The Broken Circle Breakdown, Les Amours Imaginaires / Laurence Anyways / Mommy (mostly all Xavier Dolan's movies), 21 Grams, Some Like It Hot, Blue is the Warmest Color, Milk, Cowspiracy, Walk the Line, 8 Mile, Dancer in the Dark, Carol, Vegucated, Pride, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Back to the Future, The Pianist, Moulin Rouge, Brokeback Mountain, Amélie, The Piano, La Haine, The Reader, Babel, Forrest Gump...

TV SHOWS: FRIENDS, Six Feet Under, Orange is the new black, Breaking Bad, Grey's Anatomy, The Walking Dead, Love, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Lost, Dexter, Girls, How I Met Your Mother, Misfits, Skins, Sense 8, Bad Girls...

READINGS: I love reading articles / books about feminism and women's rights, that's one topic I'm really passionate about, mostly because there's still a lot of work ahead of us!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Before being in Canada, I was in Brazil where I taught French for 5 months. I didn't know Portuguese at all and having to learn it in 5 months was a big challenge. Now, I can understand a lot and have a normal conversation (don't ask me to talk about politics or literature in Portuguese! :)) Who would have thought I could make it? Everything's possible!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach French and I'd love to!
I would also be happy to share my experience about traveling or even about music.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Canada, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
