About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making lemons into lemonade!!!

ABOUT ME

My wife and I have been living in Maputo since Jan 2022. We both work in the international development sector. Before here, we spent 3 years in Rwanda, 5 years in Laos, 3 years in Afghanistan and 2 years in Angola where we started to participate in CS. Nothing but positive experiences so far. We enjoy meeting new people and grilling up food whenever possible. We currently have a guest room in a quiet part of town but still with lots of character.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is to be enjoyed... Not wasted.
Don't worry about money, because you can always make more of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When we lived in Angola we were quite active on CS. While we were in Afghanistan we did not participate since we lived in shared accommodation as well as living in a pretty remote area. In Laos, our kids were born so we stopped hosting. Now that our kids a little older (8 and 5), we'd like to get back into hosting surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nothing but positive experiences so far. We've met some very interesting people. Like the guy who was going overland from Munich to Cape town. Or the CS'er who showed up at our place with a giant full cache of Banana's as a gift for us. It's never dull meeting CS'ers.

Interests

We enjoy grilling, eating out, photography, and meeting people with very unusual jobs. Like the geneticist I recently met in Mozambique who works for a paper company. He works with Eucalyptus farmers to develop the healthiest strains of trees in order to make paper!!! WOW!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swimming above Victoria Falls. Spending New Years on Copacabana Beach in Rio. Too many other amazing moments to just list here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy meeting people that are completely different from me.
