About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoy every day.
ABOUT ME
All about me, huh? How does one answer that. There is so much to say.
First: I am a good person. I do what I can every day to enjoy life and to bring happiness to others.
I like to experience new people, things and places. I really enjoy listening and learning. I was not a great school student, but I am a fairly good student of life. I am smart enough to know that, all things considered, I don't know much
I used to be very scared of getting old. I would see an old woman and think how she used to be my little daughters age, or see an old man and know that he used to be my age. (My little daughter is now 18) It really bothered me that one day I am going to get old. Then something occurred to me. I am going to grow old IF I AM LUCKY. I have not been bothered by the prospect of aging since.
While I am here, I want to give and receive all the joy I can.
PHILOSOPHY
Whatever Works (see the movie, you will understand)
To paraphrase, "Whatever temporary measure of grace, whatever joy you can give or receive, Whatever Works."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm willing to do whatever I can. My area is not one that people visit often, so I have only had one surfer, though I look forward to hosting more if any visit.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
As I said, I have had only one guest so far, and he was very interesting. My daughter and I have surfed quite a few places ourselves, though. We stayed at a great community type of house in Chicago, with a family in Nashville, and with a few other surfers in Memphis. All were very enjoyable experiences. We like to bring some locally made foods with us for the families as a gift; Tasty Kake cupcakes always go over well.
Interests
Concerts, travel (quite obviously), photography, food, and experiencing as many different things as possible.
My daughter enjoys the above as well, along with reading and writing, and learning in general.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Cohen brothers' films, The Apartment, Whatever Works, The Breakfast Club, The Odd Couple, Into the Wild, others.
Pearl Jam, other rock bands... Pretty much anything from Beethoven to Metallica and a little James Taylor in between.
Short Stories ("The Heyday of the Blood" and "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" being personal favorites), Chuck Klosterman, Stephen King (Especially the Bachmann Books)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't know any better way to answer this.
Teach, Learn, Share
"If I had a million dollars" I would spend the rest of my days traveling and learning. Meeting new people, eating new foods, learning new ways and expanding my views.
Having a big house means nothing without friends to share it with. Having a fast car is useless if you don't go new places.
Being alive is pointless if you don't live.
