Overview
About Me
I'm a geospatial professional, in between jobs. I maintain my usual second-job, lifeguarding, at my local university branch campus. I attend graduate school half-time, half-in person. Currently studying network analysis, along with a nursing course designed to help care providers assist with their patients' transition. I volunteer in disaster mitigation: remote mapping of satellite imagery in global data deserts. I practice usage of medicines we co-evolved with to treat chronic illness, from which I am disabled. Meaning, I use medicinal herbs for wellness, some of which grow wild or are commonly cultivated, like lemon balm and chamomile. I have sole custody of my child, with whom I regularly travel. We traveled for two months in the summer of 2023, and look forward to our last trip of the year, NYC.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am most comfortable living in intentional communities. While traveling, I prefer to stay with other individuals rather than in a hotel. Being around like-minded people (ie those interseted in travel and cultures) always uplifts my spirit. My child and I are expert low-cost travelers, and make friends easily. Can't wait to meet our next new friend in the next new place.
Interests
I love analyzing data in and out of class. Being outdoors is the most vital component of my wellness regimen. I love to meditate beside bodies of water, and feel that birds are sacred. Ecosystem services and permaculture are components of life that I strive to see more of.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I survived a near death experience at 16; I was promoted after three months at my first geospatial job; I earned a 4.0 in my first three graduate courses, with 100% current in the final course. Whoops, wrote 3 amazing things.
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach anyone I can about geospatial science. US residents are severely undereducated in geospatial topics and our understaffed workforce exhibits the outcome of that fact. Data analysis is a passion of mine and I hope to convert as many minds as possible to the usage of geospatial tools.
I also talk to people about plant/human interactions when they are perceptive to the topic. Many US residents outright dismiss botanical information as inferior to allopathic pharmaceutical treatments. Medicinal or not, we evolved with other species and 40,000 years of homeostasis with our habitats can't be all bad!
I like to share food, gift food, try food.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Conversation, educational resources, wild harvests if possible, the overt joy of my middle-aged child.
