About Me
Sometimes I have a beard, sometimes I do not. :) As of 2021 August, I do :D
Looking for a host in my area? Check out the My Home section!
🟥 I'm hosting only for one night. Please do not request more than one night.
Let me introduce myself real quick. My name is Balázs and I'm a 34 years old software developer from Miskolc, Northern Hungary. In case my name is confusing, you can call me on my nickname which is "Peba" :)
I live on my own, I have a nice cozy apartment in a multi-family home with a court located in a quite friendly place in the city. In the daytime I spend my time writing code (web applications mostly) and cooperating with my coworkers. I love what I do and I often find myself in the flow! :)
At the afternoons and at the evenings I like to go for a walk or a drive, depends on my mood.
I drink socially, so if you feel like you wanna grab a beer or two just let me know, I'm in - but if you're not into this, I can understand and will respect your decision. Soda or tea works just fine too ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As a kid and as a young adult I never really had the chance to travel. It wasn't a "thing" in my family. I was on an odd vacation here and there, but these were kind of random and most of the time someone else took care of things.
I love where I live but years gone by and all of a sudden I found myself in a strange life situation doing nothing interesting. That bothers me a lot and I want a change. With all the cheap travelling opportunities available these days I came to a conclusion the time has come to take a closer look what's out there.
I would love to meet new people. This one might sound like a cliche, yeah, but something inside me is telling me that I want to have meaningful conversations with people like you. About life, friendships, relationships, culture, habits, anything - you name it. The second reason I'm doing couchsurfing is that I want to expand my comfort zone. For some people travelling is a regular habit, to me it's an adventure.
What I expect from couchsurfing is simple really:
- I would like to gain experiences that last a lifetime
- I would like to meet new, friendly people
- I would like to find myself again -- cliche? nope, I'll tell you more about it when I get there ;)
By the way, how about we cook something simple to eat? Do you like sandwiches?
You host me, so let me do the grocery shopping, just please point me to the right direction cuz probably I'll have no idea where the grocery store is ;)

HOUSE RULES
While I'm super happy to host you, please do understand that's my home we're talking about here.
This means there are a few easy rules you must accept, respect and follow.
1. guests should be around when I'm at home too, please don't ask me to give you a key
2. I like to keep my apartment clean, please be a tidy person too, wash your dishes, use the toilet brush, you get the idea
3. no smoking in the apartment
4. if you arrive with your girlfriend/boyfriend please keep your pants on all night, no hanky panky here
5. keep the noise to a minimum after 22:00 in the night
If you feel you're an excellent cook and you're willing to make a dinner that will definitely put a smile on my face! It's not a must, you don't have to do that of course, but if you do offer a meal, I won't resist! :) There's a rather cheap grocery store nearby! And a pizzeria pretty much next door.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN MISKOLC
You can buy tickets (daily or monthly) for the Miskolc Public Transport (MVK) company in this App:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.nemzetimobilfizetes.mobiljegyapp&hl=en&gl=US
https://apps.apple.com/hu/app/mobiljegy-for-public-transport/id1340923156
Once you purchased your ticket (you have to do it a few minutes before departure) you must scan a QR code plastered inside the trams and buses. They are easy to find. You will see an animation if the validation was successful. One ticket, one ride. For another ride you have to validate another ticket. So if you have to take a tram and a bus to get to your deisred destination it's gonna cost you two tickets (about 2 x 350 HUF). Consider buying a tourist or daily ticket.
The local public transportation company's website where you can plan your routes, check out their schedule is https://mvkzrt.hu/en
There is an app where you can check the schedule:

Music, Movies, and Books
I usually listen to progressive house, trance but I also love the 80's.
My favorite authors are Andy Weir and Brian Tracy.
As far as movies concerned Hollywood movies shot in the 80's are all awesome but I enjoy TV shows as well such as "Two and a Half Men" and "Black Mirror" and of course my all time fav is "Breaking Bad" and the "Narcos".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was riding a bike with two lovely Dutches in pouring rain in the middle of the night in a monkey costume. Yup, that was a Couchsurfing experience, the first, actually. Thanks Anika and Bart ;)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I've got two bycicles, so if you happen to arrive with your significant other you can borrow them, or we can go for biking at the evening, I know the routes :)
