About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To investigate South America by bike

ABOUT ME

Along with my partner Paddy we are cycling from May 2011 from Rio, Brazil, back to Rio - in the process circumnavigating South America on our bikes. We are updating people on our travels at www.pedallingabout.com where you can find out even more about us.

We are both relaxed travellers who enjoy meeting new people and having a laugh. This is our first time in South America, but we have a wealth of experience travelling around the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've found Couchsurfing to be a great way to meet new people. Importantly it helps us to learn more about the culture, customs and way of life of the places we are cycling through - much better than meeting the usual tourists in the Lonely Planet recommended hotels! This for us is the main point of travelling by bike, the slow pace allows us to meet local people on route and really discover the places we are. The couchsurfing experience helps us continue this.

will be making our couch available when we get home!

Interests

We both like cycling - obviously! We're also keen football (soccer) fans and love other sports including cricket and rugby. Our cycling trip is a great opportunity to read those books we have wanted to for years, our favourites being classical novels and biographies. We also spend a lot of time looking at maps - but I suppose that is part of our job!
