About Me

I'm easy-going and very curious, always digging into something new. I believe in listening with an open heart as the basis for any encounter and relationship.

When traveling I walk the streets more than hunt for tourist checkpoints. I like to find restaurants, cafés and bookstores with soul and purpose. I'm thrilled by the diversity and buzz of big towns and by the kindness and joy in simplicity that thrive in small towns.

I've studied biology and letters in college though I haven't graduated. Spanish and french are listed as learning languages but I actually had contact with a few others. Languages amaze me.

I'm trying to be a bit more connected with my body and more gentle with my mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As of now I work remotely and want to try my hands and feet on being abroad more often while staying productive - couchsurfing is a way to make it possible while traveling the way I estimate and believe.

I am born and live in a very touristic city which I proud myself of knowing kinda well. I always love to show people the beautiful and significative places that are not in the written guides and that can bring some local understanding.

I'm not really fond of writing about myself but I love to dialogue and debate. If having someone to talk with I'm generally very open. :-)

Really important: I use emojis with a dash for a nose.

Interests

Reading has always been so important to me - from toothpaste boxes to literary classics and everything in between. I'm usually juggling three or four books. Currently I'm discovering sci-fi after some hints from Roberto Bolaño work. I've read a bit of Octavia Butler and Le Guin and plan on delving into Philip K. Dick soon, current one is Frésan's 'El fondo del Cielo' and... I'll cut the book blah blah here. ;-P but if you're a reader we'll have much to talk about.

Then comes eating/cooking. Since I became vegetarian food has been more and more important and I really enjoy finding good eats. In reality when I'm traveling I basically hop from one food place to another stopping on bookstores on my way.

I've had the pleasure of working in the best pizzeria in Rio (Ferro e Farinha) - that's where my profile picture comes from. It was a great time and I miss opening-filling-spinning wild sourdough making people happy from the belly.
Presently I work with a great astrologer, with whom I've been studying for sometime. So if you want to understand a bit more on this side, that's a talk we could have over some slices (or sandwiches, dumplings, bagels, cakes, soups, coffee...).

I love performing/plastic arts, photography, etc... It evokes an aesthetics debate and/or makes me reach places and/or emotions I have not been in touch before or for a while, or if it punches me in the face with dimensions of feelings I couldn't and/or might never reach, I'm in. Simple, uh? Just a bit o painting on a paper, a dozen non-sense movements.
