About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Studying abroad for one semester so I gotta make it count!
ABOUT ME
I graduated in English Literature from the University of Puerto Rico and am currently studying an MA in Film Studies at Emory University. Born and raised in the island, but my parents are of Cuban origin. I speak both English and Spanish very well. I went on a student exchange in the University of Tampere, Finland in 2012. I have done a lot of traveling since I first joined this site, but I hope this information is of use to you guys, even if it may not be the most current.
PHILOSOPHY
I don't have one. I like saying the you should treat other people with the same basic decency that you would a perfect stranger, but attempts at interpreting this "philosophy" vary by culture. I just try to be nice, unconditionally.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing for the time being. Hosting after I get to Atlanta.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I took a Summer trip two years ago that included Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Budapest, and Vienna. I did not use this website, but the people that let me sleep on their floors, couches, kitchens were all great to me. I've hosted many American friends of mine either at my house or my apartment and we've generally had a blast.
Most recently, I stayed in Kaunas and Luxembourg and had a great time. I've also crashed with CS buddies in Bremen, Sevilla, and Rome. I've used this website a lot, but my interactions with hosts are mostly interpersonal, so I don't update this profile as often as I should.
Interests
I love literature, TV/film, and American football. That is basically my life. I also enjoy traveling when I have the time and money. I'm not so much into the clubs, but I do like jokes and discussions over beer and whiskey. I enjoy punk music, but you'd just as easily find me listening to hip hop. I would guess my favorite way to meet foreigners is actively engaging in meaningful conversation about family origins, differences in language, hobbies, traditions, etc etc...

Music, Movies, and Books
Too many movies to count. I love Schindler's List, all the Godfathers, Taxi Driver, etc etc. I don't know, movies are a broad subject.
Mostly punk, hardcore, and hip hop. A Wilhelm Scream, Blood Brothers, At the Drive-In, Circle Takes the Square, Lawrence Arms, Fall of Troy, etc... As for hip hop: Nas, Biggie, GZA, 2pac, Big L, Jay Z, among many others.
In terms of books, my favorite author is Charles Bukowski, but I really enjoy Hemingway, Faulkner, Eliot, DH Lawrence, Bob Frost, Vonnegut, Orwell, Heller, and many many more. I'm a literature major, so you can count on me having read one or two books in my life.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time (I've never felt smaller). Going to Times Square is the 20-year-old equivalent of going to Disneyland for me when I was younger, so it's equally as impressive. Of course, sailing across the Baltic is quite the experience, as well. Skiing under the Aurora Borealis in Northern Finland was unforgettable. Watching the Steelers/Ravens live was on my bucket-list and I crossed it off recently.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd rather do all these things in person ;)
