Hey there! I’m Pedro Rhuas, a Brazilian singer, writer, and journalist! I'm finally living again at my beach house in Ceará, Northeast of Brazil, ten years after moving from there. I'm an easy-going and always in movement guy. Traveling is my passion, as well as to write: stories and songs and the strange dreams that often are brought to my mind. During my time traveling abroad, I've realized many things about myself and the world that connect us all. Away of everything I knew, I've sensed the Universe through the people I met, the places I've visited, and all the amazing gifts I've received. Eternal gratitude for it.

A THOUGHT

"Age does not automatically translate into experience. As we move through life, some of us acquire thousands of uniques experiences. But others of us have the same experience thousands of times. If we stay entrenched in the same habits and place, we are not moving through life - we are only moving through time."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My family gave me the best example of a host I could ever have. On our beach house, we used to host people from different places. Actresses, dancers, poets, teachers, writers: a bit of everything passed by our home, sleeping in hammocks or mattresses, sharing their art.

As I grew up in this free, magical environment, I have always had the sense of what Couchsurfing truly is: sharing not only a bed (which is enough, sometimes) but experiences, stories, different perspectives about the world... and Connecting, mostly.

EXPERIENCE ON COUCHSURFING: Couchsurfing completely shaped my whole traveling experience while living in Europe and Africa. For that, I'm absolutely grateful as I've made unforgettable friends and visited places I wouldn't make by myself or visit without this platform. Now back to Brazil, I want to open my house to others as people have done to me before.

Music, Movies, and Books

How can I put all my favorites here?! There are so many!

But I really love Harry Potter (okay, not that much anymore since J.K. Rowling came out as the transphobic she is) and the work of some excellent writers like Carlos Ruiz Záfon, Philip Pullman, David Levithan, Cassandra Clare, John Boyne, Neil Gaiman, and many others.

- Recently I'm getting into another kind of literature, with a more spiritual approach. "Living in the Light", by Shakti Gawain, was a life-changing book to me.

About the movies that I like, you can see my profile in Filmow: https://filmow.com/usuario/pedroviniciusdantas/
(Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, 13 Going on 30, Interstellar, Les Amours Imaginaires, Paris is Burning, Studio Ghibli's animations, Le Fabuleux Destin D'Amélie Poulain, etc, etc, etc)

Some of my favorite tv shows are Please Like Me, Orphan Black, The Get Down, Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Skan, Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- I won a scholarship from Santander Bank who gave me a chance to live in Europe;
- I decided to stay;
- I’ve created a blog about books when I was 15 years old. It grew a lot and two months after I was already collaborating with proper publisher houses. The blog became a big project in my life, so I needed to create my own team. Per month, we used to receive around 40 books and I was often organizing launching events in bookstores;
- On the banks of the Danube, I watched the Parliament of Budapest light it up;
- Volunteer at a surf and yoga camp in one of the best places in Morocco, the gorgeous village of Imsouane;
- I met the producer of my first song, “Cilada (Mssida)”, in a hostel in the middle of nowhere in the blue city of Morocco, Chefchaouen. Together, we recorded two songs (one of them with two more Moroccan rappers) and a video clip;
- I discovered the magnificence of the Universe.
