Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couchsurfing was recommended to me by a friend who has been using the site for a few years and loves it. I think it's a great idea and look forward to hosting / surfing myself!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I first travelled as a teenager I was lucky enough to meet some wonderful people across the world, random strangers who I met on trains or in hostels and ended up hosting me in their homes that night or further down the line. I have since returned the favour and made some life-long friendships! I guess things are slightly more organised these days with the "official" Couchsurfing system but hopefully the spirit behind it remains the same :)
Interests
Apart from the obvious things that you just can't live without (like music, cinema, great food and of course travelling!), I love anything fun and ghoulish, silly and spooky... from zombies and monsters to ghosts and ghouls. It goes without saying that I love Halloween :) All things old, dark and mysterious intrigue me. I can while away hours in dusty old bookshops and beautiful old cemeteries. But at the same time I love all things kitsch and colourful, from polka dots and leopard print to garden gnomes and neon signs. Bit of a contradiction I suppose..!
I like to be creative and can often be found making, decorating or customising things in my own unique and wonky way. A lifelong haberdashery addict, I love to dig things out of my treasure chest of fabrics, buttons and beads to play with. I hate to throw things away, I believe almost EVERYTHING can be recycled. I have never liked that whole "disposable mentality". I always think "Ooh, maybe I can turn that into something or use it for this..." But maybe I am just a big kid who likes to play with things and sometimes my imagination can outrun my capabilities :)
Other huge loves include wildlife, nature and spending time around animals, forest walks, picnics, mountains and castles! I like to find mischief and adventure in all sorts of places. My favourite region of the world is Latin America and I would love to return there one day to explore it further and improve my rusty Spanish!

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh wow. Where to start? Too much to list really but here are a few:
My passion for music spans many genres and decades and I love to be introduced to new sounds. I love to see live bands, particularly Rock, Alternative and Cabaret acts. As for my music collection, it's quite eclectic and includes things I've picked up from my travels such as Indonesian Ska, Latin American Cumbia and Italian Folk Metal - with bagpipes! Trust me, it's amazing. As for the rest, a few of my longtime favourites are...
Siouxsie & the Banshees, Cryogenica, Faith No More, Partly Faithful, Zombie Ghost Train, Queens of the Stoneage, Stray Cats, Grace Jones... and anything with horns, or tribal drums.
I love cinema. Especially things that make me laugh or scream, like strange Korean films. But some all-time favourites include: Beetlejuice, The Goonies, Labyrinth, Heathers, The Neverending Story, Wizard of Oz, Princess Bride, The Shining, Lost Boys, Harold & Maude, Krull, Battle Royale... oh and Buster Keaton!
I am a fiend for little old bookshops. Neil Gaiman, Poppy Z Brite and Kurt Vonnegut are a few of my favourite writers.
