About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience new places without feeling like a tourist.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Dutch boy who has left his clogs at home. Lived and studied in London. Currently I'm working and living in Oslo, dashing around town on my bike, trying to live life one day at a time.

PHILOSOPHY

"When God gives you lemons, you find a new God."

-Powerthirst, King of the juice

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My previous involvement with CS has strictly been on the surfing end, and in retrospect I regret not having hosted surfers in the past when I was in a position to. Each and every one experience has been fantastic, the kindness of strangers never ceases to amaze me. Now that I have finally moved into my own place with my girlfriend, we're keen to return the favour, and travel the world, one couchsurfer at a time!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couch surfing experience wasn't established through CS, instead I put up a request on a university noticeboard. I was going to live abroad for the first time in my life, and was anxious about not finding any accommodation. Instead, someone got back to me within hours, and after a welcoming lunch I was officially the new resident of my 'temporary' address! More surfing happened while traveling through Southeast Asia, first in Singapore and later in Hanoi. Both hosts were absolute diamonds, and I still doubt I can match their hospitality.

Interests

Literature, Music and Cinema: staying up late, not quite remembering what you did the next morning; watching sunsets/sunrises whilst listening to epic music; driving late at night; debating topics of little importance; staying in bed on a rainy morning; wearing underwear fresh out of the dryer; guinea pigs; Stephen Fry.
