About Me

ABOUT ME

IG: Pekkaoffinland, FB: Pekka Laukkanen or Pekachu, Twitter: Pekachu01

Being masculine and handsome are my foremost qualities, which are furthermore enhanced by my impressive intelligence and HUGE modesty. ;-) And my total lack of humour, of course. ;-)

I am social and I want to work with people. I'm quite international and have been participating to various courses and projects abroad as a group leader or as a trainer. I'm active and motivated to learn about new cultures and I want to meet new people.

I have been credited for my social and organizational skills. I get well along with people and I can work well alone and in a team. I want to create new networking possibilities and widen my perspectives. If you would ask from my colleagues or friends, they would say that Pekachu (my nickname used very often) owns a great sence of humour, is creativeness and a people oriented team player, who is always on a good mood.

PHILOSOPHY

Finnish Red Cross’s work has been a significant part of my life for the past fifteen years. During this time I’ve had the opportunity to work on various levels and various programs. Trough this, I have gained valuable experience, good international connections and an overview on the humanitarian work done in the world. Humanity and voluntary service are my main principles. :)

Interests

Open-minded, easy-going, thoughtful, queer/LGBT friendly :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From 2009 to 2011 I took part British Council’s Intercultural Navigators Programme. The aim of the programme was to help leaders pave the way for a new borderless and more inclusive Europe. This programme aimed to develop groups of young leaders in Europe who can easily ‘navigate’ within and between different cultures – who are aware of their own cultural backgrounds and who are able and open to accept, respect and understand other cultures. The Intercultural Navigators programme run in 16 European countries with 30-70 participants in each country.
