About Me

Born in Kunming, China; raised in Montreal, Canada. I love to read and write. I am interested in thoughts which are mindful of the BIG PICTURE and how smaller units relate to the whole.

It is interesting when I look back upon the path that took me here, it is winding and full of non-obvious twists and turns, and that is part of the beauty of life.

"Everything is biographical, Lucien Freud says. What we make, why it is made, how we draw a dog, who it is we are drawn to, why we cannot forget. Everything is collage, even genetics. There is the hidden presence of others in us, even those we have known briefly. We contain them for the rest of our lives, at every border that we cross."

-Michael Ondaatje, Devisadero

PHILOSOPHY

1. Go with the flow
2. Always say yes to invitations

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the fact that everyone on Couchsurfing has a trusting disposition. Believing that we are fundamentally good, what a refreshing change from all the naysayers that bombard us with negativity in the mass media!

I believe that we are all connected in invisible ways, therefore every meal shared, every moment that we relish in together, make the universe a more joyful place and delay the pulls of entropy... for a little while.

Interests

How literature let us experience empathy;
Global history and the how it has shaped today's cultural and political institutions;
Integral theroy (Ken Wilber);
Extinguishing the ego through meditation and mindful presence;
How individuals and organisations make decisions in real life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stayed at the world's largest buddhist academy in Seda, Sichuan, great squalor and beauty in scarlet and burgundy.

Teach, Learn, Share

My background is chemical engineering, so this means that after a little research, I should be able to tell you how any item in a supermarket was made.

I wish to learn more about the personal experiences of growing up in different cultures.
