About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Fled the country to teach English abroad and write for a stylish culture mag. I hope to one day learn every alphabet known to man, as well as ride the Trans-Siberian.

ABOUT ME

I'm cheerful, cynical, and hard to offend. I have a slightly morbid sense of humor, and my most recent purchase was an Edward Gorey tarot deck. I like zombies (not necessarily in my backyard, unless they're chained to a doghouse), science fiction, and things that blow up. At one point in my life, I wasted far too much time and virtual money on communist killer squid in Red Alert 2. I am both horrified and fascinated by the human species - a sentence which, I realize as I type, is strangely cohesive with the thing about the zombies and the killer squid and the blowing up.

Other things I like: the Food Network, random historical facts, cryptozoology, dive bars, techno art, valley-cruising, conspiracy theories, art shows with those little hot dogs in blankets, marine biology, and grungy concerts where I am not in danger of getting elbowed in the face.

I hope to eventually visit all 50 states, but in the meantime, I am fleeing the country until the economy gets better. I won't be satisfied until I wake up one day in Iceland, with a shark on one side, and an autographed Bjork feather boa on the other.

PHILOSOPHY

It's all about keeping perspective - and sort of like that Emily Dickinson poem. Roughly paraphrased, when you're sick you can't imagine being healthy; when you're healthy you can't imagine being sick. So drink up that Robitussin! Just kidding. Emily Dickinson wouldn't have said "drink up that Robitussin." More like, "Verily quaff that hallucinogenic medicine, fellow man."
