About Me

ABOUT ME

My name is Hendrik. I'm German, born in Bremen living in Stuttgart. Just normaly down-to-earth gay guy. I have finished my bachelors' in engineering by the end of 2014 and Master's in 2019. I enjoy working for an Software Development company. Like most couchsurfers I would consider myself as open-minded, curious and easy going. My hometown is Bremen but Stuttgart is where I am work and live since 2015 and I like it!! I used to stay twice in different parts of the US, once one year, later half a year. That experience taught me how it feels living at unformiliar places even though I enjoyed my stays there a lot.

PHILOSOPHY

Freethinker.
Live, and let live.
Try to keep an open mind
Question it - Must we always take it for granted and think it’s „normal" just because that's what we’ve always done?
Be critical.
Promote people with high sense for ethics.
Concentrate on the little things of every day that make you happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I was in Texas in 2013, I regularly attend CS gatherings in DFW which was fun! I also hosted a few times. My first time I surfed was in Lyon in 2014. I use couchsurfing primarily to meet like-minded people to make friends and occasionally to surf or host.

I’m happy to host fellow gay travelers. Please mention it in your request if it's not clear from your profile. For me, Couchsurfing is about supporting each other so we can travel affordably, and about helping like-minded people explore the world, connect, and share stories.

Interests

There is nothing I would say I won't enjoy to get to know. I love fitness, road trips, to be outdoors, bicycling, music. I don't mind beer or wine at all. I'm also passionate when it comes to cooking and experimenting with wholefood and vegan cuisine (even though I eat meat, dairy).
I like to share ideas and to be inspired by other people about fairly everything.....

Music, Movies, and Books

Earlier, I was totally into Alternative, Indie, and Post-Hardcore. While I still appreciate those roots, my taste has changed; these days, I’m mostly into electronic music, alternative pop, and cinematic soundtracks.

I’m also quite passionate about nutrition (and enjoy cooking) and have spent a fair amount of time reading up on the subject. I’d consider myself a healthy eater, but I never compromise on flavor—I’m a firm believer in enjoying great food! When I’m traveling, I’m always keen on trying almost anything local that comes my way.

One of my most impactful recent reads is 'The Velvet Rage' by Alan Downs. It’s a deeply insightful and essential book for anyone identifying as LGBTQ+, exploring the complexities of growing up in a straight world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Some of my absolute favorite travel memories come from multi-day bike touring across Germany, France, and the Netherlands. For me, it’s one of the best ways to see the world. It has become a habit doing at least one such trip every year, usually with a friend,

I love the flexibility of being on a bike—you can stop spontaneously whenever you see something interesting, and at the end of the day, you have that great feeling of having accomplished something. If you're into cycling, I highly recommend checking out the EuroVelo routes; they are an amazing way to discover Europe! https://de.eurovelo.com/

Teach, Learn, Share

Have you ever tried carpooling? It’s huge here in Germany and across Europe. Since trains can get pretty expensive last-minute, I always share my longer rides online. I simply love driving and it gives me the flexibility being on the road. I’ve been doing this for years now, and just like with Couchsurfing, it’s a win-win for everyone. It’s not just about splitting gas money; it’s about the fun of meeting all kinds of interesting people. It’s a great way to turn a long drive into a shared experience! What I Can Share with Hosts

I love connecting over good music, stories, and food. We can cook together, exchange our favorite tracks, and simply enjoy the connection that happens around a table.

There are some places around to have a beer but I usually have some drinks stashed. We can take trips downtown, indeed!

I’d be happy to take you on a walk through Stuttgart to show you my favorite spots. Beyond just the tourist sights, I want to help you catch the real vibe of the city and discover the hidden gems that make it special to me.

While I don't go clubbing as often as I used to, we could end up going out together if there’s a great (gay) party or event happening in town.
