About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The same thing I do everynight, Pinky...try to take over the world!

ABOUT ME

Hi I'm Laura, I currently live and work in Manchester. For the past 6 years I've called this place home and I'm lucky enough to be working in an amazing place with amazing people.
I manage a pub for most of my time so haven't really had the chance to travel much lately, but I have changed quite a few postcodes over the past years.

I like to think I'm easygoing and always happy, I enjoy meeting new people and constantly learning whatever life throws at me :)

PHILOSOPHY

House rules,Sammy. Driver picks the music.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met some pretty interesting CSurfers while I was doing my term abroad in Germany, I've been hosted and made good friends. Now, while I'm in Portugal, I also had the opportunity to host, and it's becoming a regular thing in our house :)

Interests

My free time is fairly limited at the moment but whenever I get a chance I do enjoy playing videogames, listening to music or going for a swim.

I like to talk...a lot! But more than that, I like to listen and find something amazing in every person I meet. I love traveling and being forced to adjust to new environments.
I won't say no to a boogie but I also settle for a chill night in and a good conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

This has always been a tricky questionnaire for me.

As far as music goes, I listen to anything, but not anytime :) It really depends on what songs speak to me in a particular moment. If I were questionnaire pick, I'd say I listen to old-school rock and Brazilian music a bit more, and if I were to look in my playlist now, I'd find Zeca Baleiro, Bon Jovi, Manu Chao, Calle 1i3, Guns N Roses, Joe Cocker, Sisters Of Mercy, Outlandish, Deftones and..UB40 :) To name a few.

With movies that's even harder to answer. I'd say somewhere in my top 3 would be Death Proof, Pulp Fiction and Sweet November. And the list goes on with Jeux d'enfants, The Machinist, Last Tango in Paris, American Psycho, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,
Gegen die Wand..and tons.

And lastly, books.... To be fair, since I started university I've rarely read a book just out of sheer pleasure. Some that I've read before and really enjoyed include "Three men in a boat" by Jerome K. Jerome, Luis Sepulveda :Diario De Un Killer Sentimental, Amélie Nothomb :Hygiène De L'assassin and of course, "Story of O" by Pauline Réage.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm... If I were to teach someone something, it would be related to foreign languages maybe. So far, I can help with Romanian (which is pretty useless, I admit) and English :)
I would also love to meet and talk to people who could help me improve my Portuguese and my German (which is awful at the moment!).
