Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Luis from Mexico City. I’m a biologist specialized in sustainable coastal zone management and I currently work in environmental consulting related to sustainability and environmental impact.
Because of my background, I’m especially interested in oceans, coastal ecosystems and landscapes connected with nature. I lived for five years in a small beach town in Yucatán, which made me appreciate coastal life and the relationship between people and the sea.
I’ve been lucky to travel around Mexico since I was young, so I’ve had the chance to visit all the states of my country and experience many different cultures and landscapes. Those experiences made me enjoy discovering places beyond the typical tourist perspective.
I’ve also traveled internationally, but I only recently discovered Couchsurfing. What really interests me about it is the possibility of connecting with local people and learning how life actually feels in the places I visit, not just seeing the main attractions.
I’m an easygoing, respectful and curious traveler. I enjoy good conversations, learning from other people’s experiences and sharing stories about travel and culture. I’m also happy to cook something Mexican or bring a small gift from my country.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing because I believe that the most meaningful part of traveling is meeting people and understanding how life really is in the places we visit.
Although I’ve traveled quite a bit before, I only recently discovered Couchsurfing and I really like the idea behind it: cultural exchange, sharing stories and connecting with people from different parts of the world.
For me, traveling is not just about visiting famous places, but about learning from locals, hearing their perspectives and discovering the small details that make every place unique. At the moment I’m not able to host because of my living situation, but I would love to host travelers in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really enjoy listening to many kinds of music, but I especially like Latin American music. Some of the styles I listen to the most are reggae, R&B, and Mexican regional music, although I’m always open to discovering new artists and sounds from different cultures.
When it comes to movies and series, I really enjoy stories with deep plots and strong worlds. One of my favorite movies is Inception. I also love the Harry Potter saga and The Lord of the Rings.
For series, some of the ones I’ve enjoyed the most are Game of Thrones, Vikings, Sons of Anarchy, and the series Collateral Effects.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I’ve done is living for five years in a small fishing village called Sisal, Yucatán on the coast of Yucatán, Mexico. That experience really changed the way I see nature and coastal life.
Being surrounded by the ocean, mangroves and wildlife every day made me appreciate how closely local communities and ecosystems are connected. Living in a fishing town also allowed me to experience a slower lifestyle and learn a lot from the people who have lived there for generations.
That time by the sea also influenced my professional path in biology and sustainable coastal zone management.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share things about Mexican culture, food and traditions. I also enjoy cooking simple Mexican dishes and explaining the stories behind them. Because of my background in biology and environmental consulting, I also like talking about nature, coastal ecosystems and sustainability
One of the things I enjoy the most when traveling is learning how people live in different places. I like learning about local traditions, food, history and daily life. I’m also always interested in learning new languages or expressions.
I enjoy sharing travel stories, good conversations, music, and exploring cities from a local perspective. I’m always happy to exchange experiences and ideas with people from different backgrounds.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I enjoy good conversations, exchanging travel stories and learning about the places people call home. I’m always curious about local perspectives, everyday life and the small details that make each place unique.
I’m also happy to share experiences from Mexico, especially about traveling around the country, coastal places and life by the sea.
