Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I'm leaving for the Peace Corps soon. I'll be volunteering in South Africa.
ABOUT ME
I'm from the Chicagoland area and I love basketball and the Chicago Bulls.
I lived in Japan through the JET Program for three amazing years.
PHILOSOPHY
Take things as they come, don't let things stress you out, and no matter how bad things get, they can always be worse.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love traveling and getting to know people along the way. CS really fits with my philosophy of helping people out and learning and experiencing new things.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've done a bit more hosting now than I have surfing, but I hope that evens out sometime in the near future. I've stayed with some fellow Chicago surfers, a couple cool peeps in NYC, India, Australia, and Japan. I've also hosted quite a few surfers now and every single one of them has been fun to hang out with.

Music, Movies, and Books
For a list of my musical tastes:
http://www.last.fm/user/Perkin8tor
I'm really into electronic music, especially deep and progressive house, down-tempo, ambient, and minimalist stuff. With that said, I am getting into more drum & bass and old school techno nowadays.
Movies - The Good the Bad and the Ugly, My Neighbor Tottoro, Blade Runner, The Seven Samurai, Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood, Yojimbo, Alien, Aliens, Terminator 2, Oldboy, Godfather I & II, Beauty and the Beast, Taxi Driver, Let The Right One In, and lots more. I'm always down for a good foreign film or documentary.
Books:
FDR, China Road, Mrs. Frisby & the Rats of Nihm, Song of Ice and Fire series, Man the State and War, To Build A Fire.
Recently I've tried to make it point to read more nonfiction and historical books. There's something about reading the words of someone who existed centuries ago that I find deeply fascinating.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Riding a motorcycle all over Japan had been a dream of mine for quite awhile. It's by far one of the goals I've been most satisfied with accomplishing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories of travels can be so wide and varied, it's a blast to talk with surfers about their various experiences. I've done a decent amount of traveling and living abroad now, so sharing experiences with other surfers is always something I enjoy doing.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, China, India, Mexico, South Korea
Countries I’ve Lived In
Japan, South Africa, United States
