About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to smile and laugh as much as possible!!

ABOUT ME

oh hi! So, well, yep, not sure what to say here. I think I pretty well covered it in the next bits. So...... read on!!

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do.

The only normal people out there are the ones you don't know very well.

"everything happens for a reason" is probably my hugest philosophy. When shite gets bad I think about that and when shite gets good I think "man I'm glad shite went bad or else (insert subsequent turn of events here) wouldn't have happened and shite wouldn't have turned out so good!"
-prime example of said philosophy; myself, bestie and sis traveling around asia, missing a flight to vietnam (this is the shite part), deciding to train it to thailand instead and spontaneously go scuba diving for the week. turning out to be THE highlight of our trip and having the best. time. ever.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted and I have surfed! It's been great! I haven't hosted in a while as my previous apartment was SO SMALL which wasn't so bad, but then my boyfriend moved in and 3 was too much of a crowd. And the landlord where I'm currently living is ridiculous so no hosting for me for a bit!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My californian friend was the first to introduce me to CS and my first experience surfing in Banff couldn't have been a better one! From there I surfed in malaysia, new zealand, and portland. I've also met up with people and hosted people that I have redeemed awesome friendships out of!

Interests

Bike riding, going for long walks with friends along the bow river, making amazing food of the vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free variety. I make killer raw chocolate tortes, vietnamese food and soup! Road trips where we talk, sing and laugh A LOT. Permaculture, sustainable living, CAMPING! I also like trampolines, meditation, sledding, snowboarding, role modeling (similar to modeling, but more important). I have never been dumpster diving but I really want to try it! I'm interested in traveling the world via bicycling! I don't know a ton about bikes but I could bike to school faster than the bus gets me there so I think that counts for something. Oh, and feminism! Love it.

Music, Movies, and Books

RIght now I'm pretty into audio books. I like books but the whole act of sitting and ready is so not my bag, so discovering audiobooks has been so great for me. Cooking/driving/getting dressed while getting a book read to me?? YES PLEASE! My most recent audio book was "outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell. Also loved "How to be a Woman" by Caitlin Moran.
Other all time fav books are anything by Yogananda (specifically autobiography of a yogi) and "The Princess Bride".
As for music I'm kind of all over the place at the moment. I totally dig shitty top 40s music (shit's fun to dance to) but also alternative stuff and some folky stuff too. Oh, and 90's music. THird eye blind? semi-charmed kinda life?? come on!

also I love movies. Not to sound incredibly cliche but Titanic is the best in my books. Basically Leonardo DiCaprio is my hobby. I also just watched the italian film "the great beauty" and liked that too. I also really love documentaries!! Especially on food. One documentary that basically ruined my life in how sad but amazing it was is called "Dear Zachary". This movie will stab you right in the heart. I like funny movies too such as Wayne's World, Dumb and Dumber, Mean Girls. etc etc. AND I've been watching that "True Detective" series and it is blowing my mind!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

my friend burylo and I were travelling in new zealand and I was breaking in a pair of chucks and really REALY needed two bad-aids for each of my baby toes. I expressed this to burylo, we walked another 10 feet and she stopped suddenly pointing at the ground shouting "WHAT THE HECK?!?!" I looked down, and there on the sidewalk were TWO BAND-AIDS STILL IN THEIR WRAPPING!!!!

oh and mt. everest. that was kindof a big deal

Teach, Learn, Share

-cooking yummy healthy food
-I am amazingly resourceful.
-about 4 years ago I discovered my own hidden talent at making miniature furniture.
-I'm an eternal optimist so if you need help there, I can help
-in 8th grade I made my plant grow bigger than everyone else's just by secretly talking to it
-I once did face painting for an entire group of boy scouts. most of them wanted mustaches (awesome and hilarious), but one kid wanted to look beat up so I painted blood coming out of his nose and down his chin. the parents all thought he was genuinely injured.
-etc.
-And I'm a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which basically means I can poke you with a sharp metal object and it will make you feel better than when you did before you got stabbed. So, chinese medicine information (ie: acupuncture) I have a buttload of it.
