About Me
PHILOSOPHY / Seize the day and keep changing...
CURRENT MISSION / living the simple life
Hello!
We are a family of four setting out on the adventure of a lifetime - an indefinite period of living and traveling around the world. we are:
/ JESSICA - freelance stylist, vegetarian cook, and nurturer by nature from Chicago
/ MAYO - communications professor, life coach, and lover of love from Colombia
/ JOA - a 5yr old future conservationist/bird watcher/nature photographer who has had an adventurous spirit since his first cross-continental trip from Korea to the U.S. when he was just 3 weeks old
/ and TAO - a 4yr old sweetheart who will melt your heart and keep you giggling at the same time.
As soon as we met twelve years ago, mayo and I knew we wanted travel to be a major part of our life together. We got married, sold all of our belongings, and headed to the other side of the world to teach english in south Korea - where a year of adventure turned into almost half a decade during which we traveled almost all of Asia, lived in a tiny farming village nestled in the Korean mountains, and had our first child.
We spent a few years in the U.S. close to family when our children were very young and we are thrilled to begin a new journey, this time together with our boys. Mayo's classes are completely online and we have decided to worldschool the boys since we know there are learning experiences everywhere and what better way to learn than through travel and experiencing other cultures? We love to explore new foods and to spend most of our time in nature and, most importantly, we love to be together.
We always treasure most the connections we make in our travels and look forward to connecting with you!
Cheers!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We love to meet new people and learn about other cultures. living abroad makes that easy to do as it opens up a whole new world with friends from across the globe.
We have hosted many couchsurfers and have done quite a bit of couchsurfing ourselves before kids and we are excited to share the couchsurfing exchange experience with our boys as we couchsurf for the first time as a family.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Jessica's first couchsurfing experience in Paris had her hooked! Homemade quiche lorraine over a bottle of wine and great conversation in a French Quarter apartment...who could resist?
