About Me

I’m currently finishing my MA in Design for Planet at Designskolen Kolding, Denmark. I have worked as a freelance designer for 8 years, where 2 of the years was in a corporate marketing department in New York. After being sucked into the capitalist wheel of the American Dream, I discovered the 9-5 wasn’t for me, that I needed more purpose in life, so I quit my job and went to volunteer in Costa Rica for a NGO that organizes beach clean ups. I became an ocean defender and design activist, and dedicated my time to campaign and raise awareness of environmental issues. I recently discovered that we need to focus on the individuals well-being in order to change behavior and make real change happen.

In order to do that, we have to challenge the unwritten guidelines of society. We have to learn that we’re not meant to fit in boxes, and embrace our individuality. I help people discover their true potential, by teaching them the values of failing, so they can accomplish their wildest dreams. Whether you're an artist, student, parent, entrepreneur, CEO or all of the above - my mission is the same: I focus on embracing imperfection and momentum, rather than achievement and goals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My mission is to break taboos around mental health through social gatherings, discussions and workshops, while creating a more mindful and sustainable life right in the center of what we’re doing. As part of my research, I am backtracking my personal journey by comparing the cultures I have lived. As I'm on a student budget, I hope to meet some kind souls that will lend me a couch in exchange for good conversation and shared stories.

Interests

I'm a very talkative yet empathetic person. I love meeting new people and learning about different cultures. I'm very creative, and I'm always thinking of new ideas and ways to problem solve. Traveling is my investment in life.
I love being outdoors and exploring untraveled paths. I've played soccer my whole life, and I recently became certified in teaching yoga. Music was a big part of my childhood, I grew up singing and playing in a band, and now I do it just for fun with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

indie/alternative rock, thriller/crime movies and documentaries, books such as 'the Power of Now'.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I quit my corporate design job without having a plan to stay in Costa Rica for 2 months to volunteer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

During the summer in between my two years during the masters program, I decided to attend a training to become a certified yoga teacher. Since then, yoga has been very much a part of my routine and it's something I'd love to share with the people I meet, and maybe guide them in how they can make small changes in their daily life. I also draw, and my goal is to keep a journal from my travels, and perhaps make a personal drawing for every one that will host me.
