Overview
About Me
I've got a twin brother, a super great pre-teen sister, a sweet Mom, a few really solid friends, and a great church. I'm about to graduate with my undergraduate degree in Interfaith Mediation. I'm currently on my way (and will be for another ten years) to being ordained in the United Methodist Church. This spring and summer are probably going to be the free-est times in my life for a few years (or decades), and I want to take advantage of them by seeing as many different plants and animals and people and cultures as I can. I want to settle down in Kentucky forever, but road trips and short international trips are vital to my sanity.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on here to meet people and travel in a way that lets me experience the world a little more fully. I find the most joy, like a lot of couchsurfers, from experiencing true culture and people in the areas I visit, whether it's across the world or two hours away from home.
Interests
I love all of those things. I'm not super great at any of them, and I don't geek out about much except really good fiction, syncretic religions, narrative theology, and practical peace building, though. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: The Civil Wars, Houndmouth, Streetlight Manifesto, Kentucky songs, any kind of live band music, etc.
Movies: Disney, Harry Potter, Quality Street, Star Wars/Trek, well done historical dramas (Selma and Hidden Figures come to mind).
Books: All of them. Except Jane Austen. Especially Barbara Kingsolver. Poems by monks and hermits are my favorite.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ugh. One. Hm. At the suggestion of a new friend, I had iced yogurt coffee on my first day in Vietnam and then didn't get sick.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach regional folkdances! I've been doing them since I was eight so they're just part of me. I know two alphabets besides the Latin one. And I know a little about the Stradella Bass system.
I love to learn languages, whether it's a different language all together or just a dialect or colloquial phrase. I also love learning folkdances I don't know and songs unique to places. I also enjoy learning about new plants and animals and ecosystems.
I can share stories and conversations, especially about religion and being homeschooled. I can share phrases in the languages I know. And my kick butt insect identification skills (yet to be tested outside of Kentucky and UK's entomology website). I also have some great ears that really like to hear other people's stories. That's my fave.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share about my experience growing up in the capital of Kentucky visiting my grandparents in Appalachia, and my time living the two largest cities.
I'm pretty new to couchsurfing, though, so I haven't really figured out what I can share with hosts yet. Updates to come!
