About Me
ABOUT ME
Odd. That's how quite many describes me.
PHILOSOPHY
I will quote a few lines by Ernest Shackleton (one of them is actually unsourced but I think it's a great text anyway) I think they reflect virtues that I value highly in humans: bravery, optimism and perseverance in the face of hardship.
"MEN WANTED: For hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger. Safe return doubtful. Honor and recognition in case of success."
"Optimism is true moral courage" -Ernest Shackleton
I'm fascinated by the past because only by understanding the past you can make the best of the present. Like Marley sung: "In this bright future you can't forget your past..." Remember where you came from and try to make an even brighter future!
Let fate determine your own life but don't put others lives and wellbeing in the hands of fate.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted some people and surfed once myself in Switzerland. I'm planning to use cs on all my future trips because it's by faaar the nicest way to live!!
Interests
I enjoy sporting and just discussing and having a good time. Sports I enjoy the most are climbing and icehockey. I also enjoy hiking and generally to be in the wild.. I'm also interested in history, sociology, antropology and different cultures and the evolution of them. Hard sciences also fascinates me! I always somehow get into different kinds of subjects for a few months and read everything availabe on it and then I change subject.. =) It's kind of a hobby and a way to relax for me. Everything from anatomy to astrophysics.. I think there is little of a natural scientist in me because I sometimes find myself lying on the ground just staring at random things in the forrest for hours. And I enjoy it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
Sotaromaani and Täällä Pohjantähden Alla by Väinö Linna (Finnish epics about the history of Finland)
I've read a lot of other great books but the aforementioned are the best I've ever read!
Some more lightminded literature I enjoy are Don Rosa's comics. They are the funniest shit there is.
Movies:
Titanic (greatest lovestory ever made), Platoon, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Barry Lyndon, Populärmusik från Vittula, Der Untergang, Trainspotting, Forrest Gump, Das Boot, and many moore... All the collected archive footage of space-exploration since the late 1950's (I'm a space exploration geek).
Music:
Everything that sounds good to me, The Beatles, Finnish Rap, Classical, The Velvet Underground,60's & 70's, classic finnish/swedish pop/rock... etc. etc. I'm probably the least musical guy there is.. My sense of rhytm is bloody awful as the british put it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Working with sled dogs.
Flying is always amazing and fascinating, although I hate the claustrophobia I get from it...
