About Me

Update March 2017 - I'm currently on a break from CS. No idea when I'm coming back

I'm a student, I study history. Love traveling of course and meeting new people. What I look for when I come to a new city is not only sightseeing but meeting local people and listening to their stories. I'm interested in current affairs, politics, history and travel experiences. Love discussing things and see how people from different parts of the world think :)

I'm naturally an extrovert and very curious but sometimes too direct. I laugh a lot but I rarely drink heavily. I have a large number of people I can rely on but I enjoy being alone. I'm very rational but injustice easily pisses me off. I enjoy being listened to but then I remember in the middle of my monologue that you exist and stop myself to ask you about something (this one is really visible, you might find it funny). I adore and admire my parents but I roll my eyes when my father occupies me on the phone for 20 minutes because he is explaining to me what errand he needs me to do in 6 different ways (usually he just needs me to visit my grandpa in the elders' home). So basically you get the picture.

Another thing about me is that I like to have everything up front. If there is something bothering you about me, about the way you are hosted or the way you have been treated, please don't hesitate to tell me. You are my guest and if you feel uncomfortable I will feel that and feel the same. So for the sake of your own trip, your experience in Croatia and my experience with you, feel free to be open and don't question if you should tell me this or that or no... We are all different, and I know we say that a lot so it loses it's meaning, but it's really true. Sometimes cultural differences can boost the misunderstandings between a host and a surfer so be honest.
If you don't agree with me on this matter, I advise you to find another host.

Also, check under "My home" for additional, very important details.

I know I wrote a lot, but I feel it's easier for travelers to have a very clear picture of what kind of person will they sort of rely on during their trip rather than just knowing some generic info like "oh me cool, me has couch" etc. You understand.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a constant appetite for meeting new people (I have a constant appetite in general actually).
I have my own apartment so why not?
Need to keep my english in shape.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musicwise, I tend to go from full electronica, mostly trance and progressive but on the other end I truly enjoy 90s and 00s hits as well as a lot of croatian music. Of course, every genre offers something I love.

Not a movie type gotta say, I prefer TV shows, but favourite movie is Tyrannousaur. If you've seen this, you rock!

Big fan of Game of Thrones, it's probably the only big tv/movie franchise I really love. Other shows I love include: Will & Grace (only sitcom that makes me laugh), Sense8 and I think Taboo is nice for now :)

I don't read novels (except GoT ofc) but rather spend time reading books about history, science and such. Currently in love with Yuval Noah Harari!

Also, I was a full time gamer during teenage years, it's still a small part of me. I relax playing dota with my serbian group. Other games I like include: Final Fantasy VII and IX, Oblivion and Tekken.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I applied for a workshop in Turkey not thinking that I would be invited. It turned out to be a one time experience as I got 9 days in Turkey with all expenses covered.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It really depends on what is my schedule that week. For starters, I offer a bed and company. If I have time and energy, I'm willing to show you the city. By that I mean showing you the most important things in Zagreb while telling you a bit about our confusing history (people say I simplify that very good), our wonderful people, our not so wonderful politicians (lol, as if it's different from anywhere else xD), our stereotypes and more about whatever I see you are interested in.
Other than that, I will probably meet you with my friends. I think we are, as a group, very interesting since we all come from very different backgrounds and with different interests. Not sure what holds us together though, but it has been holding us together for 5 years more or less.
To put it in other words - if you wanna do something that I normally wouldn't do, I probably have a friend who would gladly accompany you.

Also, surfers from spanish speaking countries are more than welcome to my home as I recently stopped learning spanish so I need to use the language. Not only that, but I found that these people are culturally very similar to us in the Balkans as we are all loud, cheerful and open.
Of course this doesn't mean I won't accept other offers.
