ABOUT ME

I'm very easy going, fairly well travelled and always keen for new experiences. For the last 8 years or so I've been working in TV production in the UK but being a freelancer during a recession isn't that much fun so I decided rather than waste my savings hanging around London I'd get out and see the world. My plan is to try and reach Japan overland but really the idea was to not have a plan so it's all subject to change depending on the people I meet and the places I like.

PHILOSOPHY

Blimey, that's a bit deep.

My personal philosophy is that there's no objective truth and that people never deliberately make bad decisions. Everyone's just trying to make their own way through life and everyone has their own influences, ideologies and motivations to shape the choices they make and the things they do, who am I to judge?

I wouldn't normally explain that to someone I'd just met though.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hopefully the couches will provide me with cheap places to stay and interesting people to give me an insight into new countries and cultures. You only ever see one layer of a place by following a guide book.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, I'm a newbie.

Interests

My interests are context dependent. In London I like art, music, movies, books, dancing and hanging out with my friends. When travelling I like to learn, whether it be about other cultures, history, religion or what doesn't really bother me but I guess I fall into the travelling to broaden my mind catagory. Although I'd obviously still enjoy some music, dancing, books and friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Three of each or I'll be here forever:

Zoolander, LA Confidential, Wall-E
Blur, Devon Sproule, The XX
The Master and Margarita, Midnight's Children, The French Lieutenant's Woman

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Victoria Falls. It counts for both, not only have I seen it, and it's pretty amazing, but I also swam in the Zambezi about 10m from the top of the falls where there's steam rising up behind you and if you stopped swimming for a few seconds you'd be pulled over the edge to your death.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm, will have to think about this.
