About Me
Important update: I'll be working from abroad this summer so I won't be able to host for now. Will update again when I get back.
---------
People say I'm crazy.
I say, what's wrong with being crazy?
Although technically a linguist, I like to think of myself as a storyteller, or maybe I just like talking.
Been a hostel receptionist, nightlife guide, language teacher, bartender in Japan, full time professional homeless bum, a wedding minister... the list goes on.
in 2013 I've left everything behind with a big challenge in my mind: 100 countries in 2 years! Managed to get to 85 before the money dried out and now I'm back in Japan again. I bought a house on the Izu peninsula and enjoying living closer to nature!
Yoroshiku!
PHILOSOPHY
expect nothing but the Spanish Inquisition.
the rest will come as it comes, just enjoy the ride :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We started hosting people in our huge student house back in the good old days (2007) and I got hooked immediately. Ever since then I was hungry for traveler's stories.
Later on I hosted in my tiny Nagasaki apartment because I wanted people to see that beautiful city from my perspective.
While traveling, I've been lucky to be hosted many times by some amazing people: 120+ couches! Thank you all guys!
After coming back to Japan, started hosting again in Osaka, then Kawasaki, now in Higashiizu.
Interests
All things Japan, all things Asia, obviously.
Quantum physics in relation to classic philosophy.
Iaido - Japanese Katana Swordsmanship.
Used to play in a punk rock band.
Used to tend an international bar in Japan.
But pretty much all I do is try to have fun and enjoy the day.
There are amazing things everywhere you look - just stop looking at your feet!
Music, Movies, and Books
Everything Tolkien, Dumas or Pratchett wrote.
Everything Fincher, Ritchie or MontyPython made.
Everything that has a vibe of punk/rock in it!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Found a host after sending just one CSrequest... twice! haha;
Sailed across the Atlantic on a 12m yacht.
Watched the sunset, starry sky and sunrise over Sahara dessert;
Bungee jumped from a FIS ski jumping site tower in Slovakia;
Did a 3000km long motorbike roadtrip around Japan and 4000km around Northern Europe;
lost a shoe running away from zombies in Vienna;
Teach, Learn, Share
After a few years as a teacher I'm not sure I can teach anybody anything!
I'd love to learn what I don't know yet - it looks like more and more each day.
But I'm always more than happy to share a story, a laugh, a second of silence.
