About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world before I get old and have to settle down!
ABOUT ME
Hi I'm Pete, a twenty-something maths teacher from South East England but living & working in Nottingham. I'm a massive fan of travelling, and love meeting new people from all over the world.
I play hockey and football in my spare time, and am a qualified hockey coach. I also enjoy running, and try to exercise as much as I can. I'm also a fan of films, music, and stand up comedy.
I travelled over most of Europe during my early 20s and more recently have been venturing further afield, to South East Asia, Africa and Central America. I've met all sorts of fantastic people along the way and am a big believer in the kindness of strangers - which is what couch surfing is all about!
PHILOSOPHY
"Say yes more"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed once in Finland and had a fantastic time, and once in the UK whilst on a course. I've also hosted four times myself. I'm more than happy to host if I can, or show people around a great and historical part of the country.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed in Tampere in Finland and had an excellent time. As a host I've had one couchsurfer stay in Leamington, and met another for dinner and beer. I hosted another surfer for 2 nights whilst living in Stratford and met another for coffee there. All these encounters have been great experiences.
Interests
Sports, particularly hockey, football and tennis.
Travel (of course!)
Films - so many I haven't seen yet.
Music - all sorts
Comedy - going to as many gigs as possible and laughing til it hurts.
Teaching and working with kids - no day is the same and they just make me laugh daily.

Teach, Learn, Share
I teach maths for a living! Unfortunately my subject has a bad reputation for being hard, or boring. I try to convince my students otherwise, and show even my bottom students that maths can actually be fun. I have been known to sing and dance in class!
As a teacher I have the best job in the world. Not only do I get plenty of time off to travel, but I get to share my love of travel with the students. Last year I took a group of students to Africa for a month - all as part of my job!
