About Me

I'm from outside Chicago and am a grad student at Oregon State. I try to live my life through adventures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I decided to try Couchsurfing to meet more people and have great adventures while I solo travel!

I have gradually began to plan less and less when I travel, and look for recommendations from locals and people I meet along the way. Couchsurfing is a great way to let me do just that.

Interests

I love hiking and backpacking, most sports, discovering new music, and trying weird food.

I’m constantly telling myself to do more reading, but that doesn’t happen as often as I’d like. A good long walk is a great way to clear the mind.

I recently started surfing, of the non-couch variety, and am stoked to get more practice.

When I make the time, I really enjoy playing guitar, ukulele, or mandolin.

Paddle/racquet sports are usually my go-to, specifically tennis, racquetball, and ping pong.

I can’t imagine life without doughnuts.

I’m studying statistics and hope to use data analysis techniques in the environmental sector after I graduate.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love groups like Fleet Foxes, Guster, Death Cab for Cutie, the Beatles, Grizzly Bear, Sufjan Stevens, Iron& Wine, Sun Kil Moon, Crosby Stills Nash and Young. Lately I’ve been getting into jazz, especially artists like Julian Lage and Jim Hall. I’m a dj at the campus radio station and am always looking for some funky tunes to play.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a solo bike trip around the Ring of Kerry in Ireland. Many miles of lush pastures, lakes and rivers, and rolling mountains. I stopped often to make noises at the sheep.

I’ve worked in Denali and Yosemite and have pretty special bonds with the parks. Lots of great hikes, people, and bears.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've got lots of horrible jokes that I'd be happy to share.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Iceland, Ireland, Mexico, Northern Ireland
